Absolutely fantastic experience! The host is extremely friendly, he helped us to get there and gave us suggestions for what to do during our stay. Beautiful surroundings, very peaceful place. Very nice private outdoor and indoor Onsen.

Staying at Anise Garden was the best part of my 4 weeks trip in Japan. This pension is located far from hotel district. Very cozy setting surrounded by a lot of big trees. He said he was an avid skier and fallen love with Hakuba. He quitted his office job in Osaka and moved in to Hakuba with his family. He surely knows this area. We had a nice chat (he is fluent in English). He picked me up at Hakuba station and dropped me off at Gondra station. Climbing up Happo was the best part of my trip! The facility was very clean and came with private open air bath. What a treat after walking/climbing all day long. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and I would love to back again with my husband next time!

Hotel manager was super friendly and smiley throughout our stay. He was very kind to provide us a guide on how to orientate around the area.The room is spacious and very clean with share amenities provided - free instant coffee, hot water and microwave. The highlight has to be the free private Onsen for guests to use. All you need to do is to flip the sign and lock the door and both the indoor and outdoor Onsen are for you to enjoy after a long day of hike, really takes the fatigue out of you.Location is convenient but hotel is slightly hidden so keep a look out for it especially in the dark.

The owner is absolutely fabulous. He takes complete care of you during your stay from picking up at the bus station, driving to ski rentals, and making sure you know your way around the town. Best host I have had traveling. The hotel is located just minutes from the ski shuttle station and a 10 minute walk to an area with restaurants, bars, and ski rentals. The rooms were comfy and the private onsen was a great way to end a day skiing.

Nanjo-san is very kind and helpful! Awesome services, pickup and drop to almost place that we wanna go. Had good onsen experience after skiing. Warm, quite, lovely!
