[An inn deep in the mountains where you can enjoy locally-loved food...]Today we will be staying at Amakazarisou, located on Mt. Amakazari, deep in the mountains of Otari Village, Nagano Prefecture. The interior and exterior are different from the photos posted on the internet, and are more secluded, but that's all part of the charm. The open-air bath feels good, so it's totally okay. You can also make your meal a little more luxurious with the optional grilled rock fish (+1,100 yen).First, we had the ``umeshu'' prepared as an aperitif, and then moved on to ``draft beer.''The meals range from ``appetizers'' made with local ingredients...``Lotus root boiled in Tosa'', ``Stir-fried cucumber lily with miso'', ``Grilled eggplant with jelly''...Elaborate but home-style flavors.``Oyano pork raw ham'', ``raw ham and pear jelly sauce'', ``vegetable quiche''...the hospitality of local pork ham makes me happy.Next is the sashimi, which is typical of a mountain inn and is made with ``rock fish''...It is served with wasabi and soy sauce, and although it may not be made naturally, it is delicious."Salt-grilled rockfish"...Yes, this is also farmed fish, but it's delicious.Steamed ``Yamaudo Chawanmushi''...Gentle flavor, accented with the slight bitterness of the mountainudo.``Fried rock fish head and bones''...It wasn't crispy, but it was crispy and delicious with a salty taste from head to tail.“Shinano Yukimasu Grilled with Soy Sauce Koji”…You can enjoy it so easily that it doesn’t really feel like a fermented food.``Hakuba pork kakuni''...The fat is sweet and the meat is soft and melts. It's quite delicious.“Shinshu Premium Ceramic Grilled Beef”…Delicious meat with just the right amount of marbling. Enjoy with rock salt or wasabi soy sauce. The first dish to finish off the meal was ``Hand-made soba noodles from Otari'' and ``Tempura (somen pumpkin, vine grass)''... cold soba with tempura, also served with wasabi and soba soup. Hand-made, the soba flavor goes down well, and it's quite delicious. The second dish to finish off with is ``Koshihikari rice from Otari'' + ``pickled vegetables'' + ``Shinshu miso soup with green onions''...just a little bit of it, served with rice, pickles, and miso soup, then lightly dried rock fish and arare on top of the rice. Then add dashi tea to make ochazuke. ...Somehow, it calms me down. I feel Japanese. And for dessert, ``Mizugashi red-fleshed melon and apricot homemade sorbet''...the whole course was delicious and soothing.Rather than being extremely delicious, each dinner was rich in local food with a focus on local ingredients, and I was happy to find that it was delicious. The refrigerator in the room has a reasonable amount of spring water in two containers, and the deliciousness of the natural water is one of the best things about it.Unexplored areas, secluded hot springs, spring water, a remote inn, the appearance of rockfish, salt-grilled rockfish, Hakuba pork, Shinshu premium beef, handmade soba from Otari, warm hospitality... These are the strengths of this inn. What is a secret hot spring? There is a secret open-air bath in the forest right next to the inn, but it seems that there are a lot of horseflies flying around, so I decided not to get along with them (I was once bitten by a horsefly) (I had to go to the hospital for nearly two weeks and receive intravenous antibiotics almost every day.)This is also recommended for those who like secret hot springs.
