Needless to say, this is a famous long-established inn in Kyoto. The view of the garden from the room was spectacular. Additionally, the furnishings are top-notch. The food, taste, and presentation were all wonderful. When my birthday was coming up, they went out of their way to prepare sekihan for breakfast as a surprise. I was impressed. The staff also treated us with great care.Although I can't come here easily, I would definitely like to stay here again.

A+++- Rooms: this place is historical ie old but the rooms are pristinely maintained. Feels very clean and cozy- Service: next level hospitality. They honor Japanese hospitality traditions e.g., wetting the stone walkway in the entrance as a symbol of welcoming their guests, they’re beyond attentive to your requests and even to things you didn’t ask for e.g., frozen water bottles for the road after checkout because the day was hot… I could go on and on.- Food: amazing. Clean, locally sourced, seasonal, flavorful… I love it hereDon’t walk! Run! This place is the sole reason I’d go back to Kyoto.

This was one of the best traditional ryokan in Kyoto. From the moment we arrived to we left, we had the warmest greet from the team. We stay in room 14 in the old wing, the room and the view were gorgeous, and the room was extremely clean. We also booked the kaiseki dinner, every dishes were very delicious, high quality ingredients with natural decoration. Thank you so much のりこさん and your super professional team. Good luck on your future endeavours! We will definitely be back soon:)

A famous inn that represents Kyoto. It has dignity. The food is also amazing.Dinner can be eaten in the room, but the dining room in the new building has a courtyard on three sides that looks like a microcosm of Kyoto City, and is decorated with a seasonal feel. The shampoo and soap in the bath are specially made for this place and are wonderful. You can also make it as a souvenir along with lotion etc.If there are no guests staying, they will show you around the room where movie actor and director Chaplin stayed.

Had the most amazing stay at Hiiragiya ryokan, from arriving to the delicious kaiseki dinner, amazing history of the place, the onsen bath, fantastic breakfast and most importantly, the staff looking after us. We wished we could stay more, and will definitely visit again. For the rest of the trip we kept referring to our "ryokan aunties", this is how much we liked it.
