As mentioned in other reviews, the hostess had a very nice personality and it was a pleasant stay.Dinner is also delicious and full, with mountain and river delicacies. We also recommend staying with children. There is no parking lot at the inn, so you will be directed to a nearby free parking lot.The road in front of the inn is narrow and difficult to make a U-turn, so it was convenient to set up the Shima Onsen Kiri no Kihira parking lot (free of charge) and head there. You can find it on the right side of the restaurant labeled Local Cuisine in the first photo. The parking lot is long, so park near the entrance, climb the stairs next to the pizza shop, and then climb the stairs next to the miso manju shop to arrive smoothly. It was a 2-3 minute walk from the parking lot to the inn.

It was a very kind inn, and the breakfast and dinner were delicious, making it a great stay! It was my first time to visit Shima Onsen, so I'm glad I was able to find a comfortable accommodation. The only disappointing thing was that even though it was a hot spring, it was not disinfected. Especially when I went to bed before going to bed, the smell of disinfectant was so strong that it didn't even go well with my skin. It may be unavoidable from a sanitary standpoint, but Shima Onsen is a valuable hot spring that can be drunk. It is also absorbed through the skin and pores, so if possible, I would be happy if you could seriously consider whether to install a filtration device that does not require disinfection, or take the plunge and go without disinfection!

Overall, the cost performance is poor. Are the meals you were looking forward to using a lot of ready-made or frozen foods? It may have looked good, but it wasn't tasty at all. The proprietress is energetic and cheerful, so I wish they would take the plunge and hire a new cook, or make everything handmade and serve simple and delicious food. Nowadays, there are many foreigners and vegetarians🌱, so it's not just vegetable (root vegetable) dishes, but vegetarians and vegans don't have additives or ajinomoto. Gluten-free people should also avoid wheat flour in soy sauce. Of course, everything labeled as amino acids is an industrial product manufactured by Ajinomoto and is an additive that is harmful to the body. You should carefully recheck them, pay attention to seasonings, and study them properly. Unless a chef is very eager to learn, he or she will not pursue a world that he or she does not know. I would like the food at a ryokan to be creative and serve food that is truly nutritious, not just this kind of thing. However, the potential is high, so I have high hopes for the future.*The jelly that was served after arriving was too chemical in taste to be eaten. It's better to just have hot spring steamed buns or fruit. I think the desserts are bad overall. Whipped cream also tastes cheap and is actually a fake cream with synthetic oils and fats, so it's better not to use it. If you want to use it, you should buy a pack of fresh cream and whisk it properly. If you try to make it easier or save time, you will end up with lots of additives, so cooks should study it.

This was my first time at Shima Onsen, and I was greeted by the cheerful landlady, who carried my luggage to my room. After being shown to my room, I was given a detailed explanation and generous treats such as apple tea. Dinner was a very satisfying Japanese meal made with local ingredients. The room was clean and spacious, and the bath was open-air so I could fully enjoy the nature of Shima. The proprietress is bright, energetic, and attentive, and the other employees' customer service is also excellent.I want to go again!

A remote hot spring area where you can hear the sound of the Shima River. It is a hot spring area that is different from the humming environments of Kusatsu and Ikaho.

I stayed at Ayameya Ryokan in Shima Onsen while on a bike tour. As mentioned in other reviews, this ryokan not only has excellent manners from the proprietress and employees, but also the best hospitality. It's full. There is a full-fledged covered bicycle parking lot and two electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities on the premises, which are especially helpful for motorcyclists. What's more, there is a special benefit for motorcycle riders in the accommodation plan, and they give you a bottle of shochu and ice as shown in the picture, making it the perfect accommodation for touring as it is very considerate to motorcycle riders.I have never been to Shima Onsen before, but it was a very pleasant 1 night and 2 day stay with the rider benefit plan, enjoying the heartfelt service and food prepared by the young proprietress. All the employees are very kind and helpful, and I am very satisfied with the service! The quality of the food was prepared by an authentic chef, and I was surprised at how much there was for dinner. Also, the breakfast was much larger than a typical breakfast, so I was able to tour until noon without feeling hungry. It was full of flavor and every bite was delicious.Immediately after checking in, they serve handmade desserts, a bite of miso dengaku, and tea, and the hostess's personality will soothe you. The young proprietress served me the small onigiri pictured as a late night snack, and I was happy with her personalized comments.Although I was full from dinner, I enjoyed the onigiri deliciously after taking a bath. The sweetness of the rice was delicious and I felt satisfied again. The accommodation was well-maintained and clean, the baths were clean, and the hot springs were of good quality, so I was very satisfied. It was a hotel where I was able to refresh my tired body from touring and enjoy the warm hospitality. I couldn't find a better place in this price range. Thank you very much for your heartwarming response.
