We drove here by a rent car, there is a lot of parking space. This place is a good place to stay if you want to visit the world heritage sites in Gokayama or Shirakawako. It's our first time experiencing staying a ryokan and we love it. We stayed in the Japanese Western Style Room. The lady staff took great care of us. They will call into your room when meals are ready and such. There is of course a hot spring too of course, and there is also a private bathroom in your room so no worry about that.Although there could be quite a lot of bugs from outside, so be mindful about that. The area around isn't much, just people's houses. Certainly is a nice place to walk around if you just want to feel the atmosphere. I really love it.There is a gassho house on the opposite side of the ryokan. Highly recommended.

It's an old building in a place with nothing around, but it was clean and the food was very delicious.

I visited this place on a trip to Hida, Hokuriku. The inn is close to the Gokayama IC, and the Suganuma Gassho-zukuri village is also within 5 minutes of the Gokayama Onsen Ryokan. You can check in from 2pm, so I came early. The room was an 8 tatami Japanese-style room with perfect heating, including an air conditioner, fan heater, and kotatsu. Since we had time until dinner, we went to the Iwase House, an Important Cultural Property, and the Suganuma Gassho-zukuri Village (Cultural Property Fire Prevention Day Awareness Light-up). For dinner, we had Gokayama local cuisine, Himi beef grilled on a ceramic platter. The salt-grilled rock fish was so tender and delicious that I could eat it from head to bone. There were also local dishes such as Gokayama tofu, simmered red turnips, soba noodles, and tochi mochi, which I was very satisfied with. The bath wasn't that big, but the calcium and sodium sulfate springs warmed my body. I was worried about the earthquake and cold wave, but I'm glad I visited.
