I used it on a couple's trip for the first time in several years. When I was a child, my family often used the Kappo Tosenen restaurant in the same building, but this was my first time staying there and my first visit in 40 years. Although it is undeniably old, it is well-cleaned, and the dim lighting in the hallway gives it a Japanese-style feel.We had a wonderful time there.

Phenomenal! Best breakfast ever . Extremely nice people . The room was very large with private onsen. Views over the city and mountains. Picturesque garden . Reasonably priced . Plus shuttle on demand . What else can you ask ? :)Altamente recomendado 🤩🤩

Older, traditional ryokan with beautiful views. The staff was so friendly and accommodating even with limited English. Dinner and breakfast were a great experience. The garden, while not in perfect condition, is still beautiful.

I spend most of my time in hotels and frankly this one is the best I've ever been to. Excellent service and great room. I regret that we didn't stay longer.

My husband and I stayed here.The guest room is a special room.It's spacious and beautiful, and you can see the waterfall from the large windows.The large public bath was great, but the indoor bath was even better.The service is nothing to complain about.I was happy that he wrote down recommended sightseeing spots for the next day.The location is a terrace with a panoramic view of Matsumoto City! This was wonderful.The food is delicious, especially the char bone rice crackers, which should be served at an extra charge to go with the sake you drink in your room! It was too delicious.Thank you for your help.

Wonderful Ryokan. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. We really enjoyed the traditional Japanese breakfast while staying there. The rooms were a little dusty and there were some insects but what do you expect when staying in a place alongside nature? The garden on their property was so peaceful and a great place to get away to watch the sunset and reflect on your day. The rooms made it comfortable to stay here and the onsen was an added bonus. We weren't able to enjoy the outdoor onsen unfortunately as it was still being renovated but I am sure that when it opens, it will be a treasure! I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity presented itself.

I stayed here with 3 children aged 0 to 5.I arrived well before check-in time, so I asked if I could come in, and they welcomed me with a smile.The bath is not too big or too small, it is kept clean, and you can use it as much as you like 24 hours a day.The food is perfect for a Japanese-style inn, so there's nothing to complain about. It was more delicious than I expected. There are a lot of items in a good way.If I had to force myself to say it, I would say that children's dishes are just right for elementary school students.I am very satisfied with both the customer service and the condition of the room.However, the location is up a steep slope, so we don't recommend low-height cars or in the middle of winter (^-^; That's the reason for the 3 stars.Also, the inside of the building requires climbing up and down stairs, so people in wheelchairs or people with disabilities are not recommended. You might also have a hard time...There is also a day trip plan, so I would like to go again.
