A nice place to go for drinks. There's a snack bar right in front and a pub is nearby. But when you go home after drinking, the hallway is dark and you have to unlock your room in the dark. It's noisy with the drunkards making noise outside. The bath starts at 5 o'clock, so it's a shame that you can't take a bath unless you wait. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I heard swans chirping, letting me know that winter was coming soon.

Anyway, you will be overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the 100-year-old building and the many historic furniture pieces. The first photo is of a super high-end Yoshida-style stand radio that I repaired in 1933 and was sold for 65 yen, and it was sold at the Appraisal Group for a considerable price. The second photo is also of the wind-up fly trap that was presented to the appraisal team, and there are many other museum-quality treasures. This is a wonderful inn with a great personality of the host.

The toilet was separate and it was a little difficult to go up the steep stairs from the room on the second floor. Although there are toothbrushes, there is no separate toothpaste and the bathroom is shared, so if you feel uncomfortable, we recommend bringing your own toothpaste. The interior of the passageway was decorated with intricate details, and the ornaments were not too shabby, so it was very nice! In my mind, it was an important cultural property! The checkout was so Showa-style that I couldn't ask if I could use credit cards. , I paid in cash (lol) I don't think you can use cards. From the moment you walk in the door to the room, bath, breakfast and return home, it feels like you've traveled back in time to the Showa era.

They provided us with a very comfortable room. Although it is a retro inn, there is free WiFi and shower toilets. The bath was piping hot and prepared, which shows the owner's personality. When I come again, I will definitely stay here.

It's an old inn, but the host and landlady were kind and the prices were low. I will use it again when I go to Sakata.

5 star inn. There is a tempura shop next door, and the owner is very interesting. When I bought it, they served it to me for dinner. Best hospitality. He showed me a covered bicycle parking lot and I stored my bike there. Mammoth happy. He guided me to the ``Kiri-no-ma'' room. The room is 4 and a half tatami mats and feels like a hideaway. The woodwork inside the building and in the rooms are intricately designed and worth the price. The entire facility is kept clean. Yakusugi, which is no longer usable, was also used. His predecessor was a lumber merchant, so he uses a lot of high-quality lumber.A must-see for retro ryokan enthusiasts. There are so many roads in Sakata that you can only walk through one step at a time, which makes travelers sad. When I asked the owner, he told me that there was a big fire in Sakata about 45 years ago, and the reconstruction failed and the number of one-way streets increased (apparently there were quite a few from the beginning). Fortunately, this part remained unburned.A wind-up fly trap is in use at the entrance. If you like old things, there are many things you can enjoy, such as glass paintings and a ship's safe (for the Kitamae ship? It's designed to prevent it from sinking).Dinner was miso soup with bamboo shoots, grilled raw silver salmon, shabu-shabu, and rice. The rice was 100% Koshihikari rice grown in Sakata, and I hadn't had such delicious rice in a while. Yamagata rice is the best. It's at a level where you can come just to eat rice. There was a pamphlet about the Great Sakata Fire in the dining room, so I read it carefully after dinner. By the way, Mogami-ya Ryokan was introduced in ``Japanese Bolo Inn Travelogue''. There were books in the hall. This is one of the inns that I would definitely like to visit again.

I want you to feel the romance of staying at a 100-year-old inn. This is an inn featured in Satoshi Kamiakedo's ``Japanese Ragged Inns Travelogue 2''.It was a place where you could really feel the nostalgia of the early Showa era. As expected, the toilet was Western-style 🚽, but other than that, everything else was kept as original as possible. The toilets, baths (the baths are locked, so one group at a time is occupied), the washrooms are shared, and there is no distinction between men and women, and the only toiletries are toothbrushes, so I got used to the privacy and convenience. Modern people may feel a bit reluctant about it, but please think of it as a place to enjoy it in the first place. There was also an ashtray in the room, but there was no smell of cigarettes at all.The futon was light, warm and comfortable. However, since it is located in a corner of a bar district, the noise of drunk people may disturb your sleep before holidays. The meals are home-cooked meals prepared with great care by the landlady, and you are free to refill your rice. As expected, Yamagata's rice is also delicious.
