The accommodation at Bessho Onsen is "Ryokan Tsuruya" | A fairly retro hot spring inn founded in the Edo Genroku era. …

A nostalgic inn with a wooden structure located behind Bessho Onsen Oyu. Although it is old, it is kept clean. The rooms are made in a pure Japanese style and have a nice atmosphere. However, there are some differences in taste, such as poor Wi-Fi connection and poor TV reception. For dinner, the shabu-shabu beef was tender and delicious, and the carp carp was so delicious that you could even eat the bones. The sweetfish and maitake mushrooms are steamed in clay pots, and the soup stock is very effective. Both the rice and miso soup are delicious. Breakfast is also sufficient. I'm happy to eat in my room when traveling alone. The hot springs are simple sulfur springs, fed directly from the source, and the open-air baths are warm, but the indoor baths are slightly hotter and more comfortable. The shower and shower are a little out of order. Although there are some inconveniences, I personally think it is a good accommodation.

The hot water in the shower in the bath does not come out properly. This is my first time at such a hot spring inn. There was no hot water from the hot water faucet in the unit bath in the room.Staying here in the middle of winter is tough. It's a joke, but it's a true story, like washing your face with super cold water in Shinshu in winter.Impact of Corona? No, it seems that 30 years have passed since the unit baths in the rooms and the hot springs were installed, so they probably have no intention of fixing them in the first place.

In October 2019, when the typhoon had a big impact on Nagano, I was planning to go from Kusatsu Onsen to Bessho Onsen, but it was canceled (I was offered a glass of wine this time). …

A nostalgic inn that retains the Showa era's atmosphere, nestled in a quiet hot spring town...isn't it?There are many elements that people who like it will definitely enjoy, such as the TV being a CRT + terrestrial digital tuner, and a mysterious non-electric massager. In addition, the scenery seen from the lobby/lounge and outside the windows has a very elegant atmosphere that you can enjoy. However, there is no air conditioning throughout the building, so it may be difficult during hot or cold seasons. Due to the location, the heat is a bit tolerable...The public bath was about the size of a Japanese inn, but it was empty so I had the hot water to myself. The open-air bath is designed with trees jutting out from the sides, making it feel like you're half integrated with nature, so you can relax while enjoying the power of the bath....Ah, but Karan and the shower were still half unwell. There are some things I'm concerned about, such as the age of the equipment, but it's also nostalgic. If you are aware of this and enjoy it, I think it is a very good value accommodation.

The room was very cold. Even though I warmed up in the hot spring, it quickly got cold. The sanitary aspects of the large public bath were also not very good.
