The hotel is located directly on the Elbe on one side and on the main street on the other. On September 4th I gave the hotel this feedback in writing, which has remained unanswered to this day.Staying in the standard room for one night was not relaxing, but rather unpleasant.Attached you will find a few pictures, the carpet was so stained in some places that you wouldn't want to walk through the room barefoot, the ceiling is not only full of animal stains, but there are water or even mold stains in the left corner above the bed . The fact that the shower joints in the bathroom are full of mold is absolutely not appropriate for a hotel. I heard that the room is one of the unrenovated ones - but in my opinion it shouldn't be offered in this condition at all or at a greatly reduced price with a corresponding notice. If I had known the condition, I certainly wouldn't have booked. The fact that there was a dead animal on the bathrobe, which couldn't have gotten there in the 10 minutes between cleaning the room and our arrival, rounded off the impression. The fact that the colleague at the reception gave a discount of around 20 euros (10% of the booking price) is friendly, but does not come close to doing justice to this negative experience. The Strandgut restaurant is excluded from this - it is absolutely fantastic and recommended.I can only give the hotel one star because I felt absolutely uncomfortable in the room and the price-performance ratio was absolutely not right - and such feedback remains unanswered for 2 weeks.

A very nice hotel in beautiful surroundings and directly on the Elbe. Everything is very lovingly furnished and prepared. Very tasty food and delicious wines in the attached restaurant. Of course, there was always a meat or fish alternative to the vegan dishes. The breakfast was very varied, with something for every taste. The room was comfortable and quiet. This hotel is absolutely recommended. We'll be back!

What a letdown. We paid 50 euros more than most other hotels on our holiday walking the Malerweg. I have no idea why though. The good:Fantastic breakfast: Lots of options, everything fresh. The staff is great and friendly. The bad:The room was plainly outdated and looked like it came from the 70s. It wasn't particularly spacious, just old. It didn't even come near what I expected for the price. The bed was so hard both me and my wife woke up with backpain.Want to use the sauna? Well, it's on the other side of town, so you're gonne do some walking. Not necessarily bad, but the reception is also somewhere else in town. Not a minus, but just unexpected. Make sure to check in at the south-east side of town and then go to the location indicated by Google Maps.

Very good location, rooms also sufficient and very clean.Disadvantage: no review in the house, neither sauna, parking spaces cost extra, which was not clear in advance.

We stayed in Schmilka for 6 days and had room 102 in the Hotel Helvetia. It has the great Strandgut restaurant. The breakfast is great and the evening meals are of great quality. The service is great. All employees were courteous, friendly and helpful. A great team. The location of the hotel is very beautiful and romantic. The only downside was the hotel room, which had not yet been renovated, was located above the kitchen and had a very strong smell and stench. Sometimes very borderline. The reception is aware of the problem. We were able to go on great trips and many services are included with the guest card. A great place to unwind. There is neither WiFi nor mobile network in the room. WiFi is only optimal in the restaurant/lobby. So ideal for switching off.

I don't want to say much about the room, I just thought it was a shame that there was no balcony. Otherwise we had a nice stay there. Super friendly staff. Helpful.I thought it was great that there was no WiFi.Breakfast: if you didn't get enough, it was your own fault.

So I can't recommend it. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast, which was really top notch! So much choice and options... but that couldn't put the rest into perspective. 190 euros a night is definitely too expensive for the room we had.- the room was very small and impractically furnished (when the bathroom door is open, the closet door cannot be opened) and super dated / unfashionable / old furniture- blue carpet had many stains- no view of the water means street view = noise- no full-length mirror- WiFi only rarely worked and when it did, it was very slow. That wouldn't have bothered me so much if you only received E on your cell phone throughout the town, meaning you had no internet reception for the entire stay. This is super annoying when you want to google restaurants or a hiking route.- no free sockets on the bedside table- Curtains were not blackout- only 4 hangers in the closet- Car parking is 3 minutes walk away- Reception is 12 minutes away on foot… since there is no reception, you have to accept half an hour there and back for every little thing.- The outdoor seating had no cushions- There was no sauna in the hotel… should I go to the bathing hotel and walk 15 minutes to the village of Latschen? Who does that?...- one day our room wasn't cleaned at all, on the second day a cleaning sponge was left lying around and on the third day our used towels from the floor were simply hung up againOverall, neither the rough nor the details were right for me. Therefore I would not recommend the hotel.
