Spent 2 days in the Sonnenhof on the weekend of August 3rd-5th, 2024. Very polite reception and service. Food very nicely prepared [see review below] There were hardly any guests in the house. Rooms absolutely ok and clean - rural and quiet location -

Extremely friendly staff, very accommodating. The rooms in the hotel were very clean and well maintained, but they were still showing their age...my room smelled of smoke. You can fix it by airing it out.

I was there for further training at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce and am shocked by what they have to deal with here.When we arrived, everything appeared to be in very good condition, but the rude awakening came later.If you take a closer look, everything is getting old, the rooms are mediocre, the WiFi can only be used locally with constant interruptions, which led to problems with some of the preparatory online training courses.On the subject of staff... the predominantly Asian service was very friendly, but seemed tense (I was able to observe why that was the case). What was disruptive during meals was the staff appearing every second and the almost prison-like surveillance by the elderly boss.When there were inquiries or problems, the owners' reactions quickly changed from "friendliness" to "I don't give a damn". Even statements like "You're all spies here!" Had to listen to it.The "food": From moldy vegetables to raw poultry meat and a lack of seasoning, most of us were plagued by gastrointestinal problems. In the end, I and other colleagues switched to supermarket goods and snack bars in the area.This is usually a reason to give the health department a tip.Conclusion: Wherever the alleged 4 stars come from is anyone's guess. They can be happy that I was busy with my exams.For me, never again!

Beautiful, quiet location on the edge of the spa town of Schömberg, very service-oriented, all employees, including bosses, very friendly and accommodating. The food (breakfast and dinner) was plentiful and of extremely good quality. We classify the dishes in the evening as fine cuisine. The wellness area is very spacious and very clean, the loungers are of high quality.If we were to be in the area again we would definitely book this hotel again. It was a great 10 days, many thanks to the entire team at the hotel.

I have visited this restaurant 2 to 4 times within my last 15 years.The price/performance ratio has deteriorated so much that I will most likely no longer make a reservation there.Currently mostly Asian staff - extremely friendly and accommodating! 100 points from me!- My experience was: good food for reasonable money.Unfortunately my "experience" was very disappointing.The cheapest “real” meal was “Edelhirschgulasch” for 25.50 euros.I got a slightly salty game goulash with meat partially interspersed with connective tissue, a few vegetables, and (very likely "ready-made") croquettes. It would certainly be possible to offer a bread dumpling with it without overtaxing the calculation!My wife and I were in the guesthouse "next door" (approx. 250m further) a week earlier and paid 2/3 for a comparable quality.The Sonnenhof is a high-quality restaurant. However, that's not enough for 4 stars. "You" should perhaps think about it - the "classy" impression of the restaurant is also somewhat diminished by guests who arrive at the restaurant in slippers. ... Well, I'm sure - something has to change!

We were guests at the Sonnenhof for 2 nights.We haven't experienced anything so warm in a long time. The hosts are extremely accommodating. You feel very comfortable.The rooms are very spacious and rustically furnished. The location is very quiet.We had half board and were very satisfied.In the morning we had a lovingly designed morning post on the table with current information and tips about the area.The food was very varied and tasty.We would definitely come back

We stayed there for 3 nights in a very nice, quiet hotel. The room was nice and bright with a balcony, the bathroom with shower had enough space and was well maintained. We were warmly welcomed and the service was very attentive. Very nice wellness area to unwind. The food was varied and really tasty. We have already stayed in many hotels and we will remember the Sonnenhof as a family-run hotel with charm and would stay there again at any time

When we checked in for two nights it became clear that guests were rather annoying. We wanted a room with a conventional bathroom door, which was finally possible. The sauna and steam room area is generally nice, but is only open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Breakfast, afternoon snack and 4 course menu (dinner) for 79 euros per day are clearly too expensive.The young, friendly, smiling waitress simply “smiles away incomprehension”, while the manager of the house even resorts to cursing towards guests. At the first breakfast there were two fried slices of bacon on the buffet, which were added upon request...yes, we were the only guests.The roast roast one evening was good...otherwise it's not surprising that we were the only ones or almost the only guests the next day.Over 350.00 euros left there for 2 nights for two, even though the overnight stays were paid for with a voucher.Conclusion: Hospitality looks different.

We had a voucher and chose the hotel because of its appearance and the wellness area.There are many strengths but also weaknesses.Like the previous speakers, the hotel is getting old.Little things that add up were that the wooden infusion bucket wasn't tight and it was placed in a 10 liter bucket of pureed tomatoes.Also, during our last breakfast, the coating on the spout of the coffee pot was completely peeled off and discolored from all the coffee. This should be exchanged in a 4 star hotel.These were the things that caught our eye.To eat:The breakfast and the afternoon snack are incredibly meat-heavy. My friend, however, was happy about the many choices. If you like to eat a lot of meat, this is the right place for you. Black Forest ham in all variations: with kirsch, in a wrap, dried, cured etc...In the evening there was also a vegetarian alternative, which I found very good.The wine sauce described on the menu was far from a wine sauce. As here, the pictures on the website do not match reality.To the wellness area:Small but nice!There is a hunter's sauna that was 50 degrees. The smell of the pine branches was very pleasant. The hunter chairs inside the sauna are a small highlight.The Finnish infusion sauna does what it is supposed to do. There is always tea and water with 🍋.As mentioned above, the tomato bucket wasn't quite suitable.Unfortunately, the times for the sauna are also inappropriate; it is only open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. every day.To the staffEveryone was very friendly and accommodating, whether everything was okay and whether anything else was wanted. Owners were also very friendly.I think for older guests who like to eat meat and like the rustic charm, this is the place for you. The hotel is also suitable for hiking.For younger guests who focus more on wellness, they should go to a wellness hotel.
