We actually wanted to make a stopover in Rothenburg on the way to South Tyrol and see if a vacation was worth it. Yes, it's definitely worth it and we'll be back. However… we booked 2 rooms in Villa Mittermeier through a travel portal, at the beginning of the year. It's all ok. Two days before the appointment I receive an email via the travel portal saying that we have been overbooked and whether we agree that our rooms are now in the Hotel Rappen opposite. I called the hotel and asked because I accidentally deleted the email.Answer: No, we have booked you in with us, the email is no longer valid and everything is fine.You think great, you drive off and at the reception you are told by an employee that you are now in the neighboring hotel. That's just the way it is and the information on the phone couldn't say anything about it...There is no more mention of the free breakfast on Sunday morning that was offered in the email as compensation. Instead we were supposed to be welcomed with a glass of wine at the alternative hotel...of course there was no more talk of it.Result: two alternative rooms with the charm of a youth hostel in the guest house.Now you have to understand, we only booked an overnight stay twice and not a week or more and then without breakfast.In the end, none of this is a problem, we take it as experience. The way we communicate annoys us, especially because we come from an area where the spoken word counts.hbe.

I stayed here in August.Although the room was on the top floor, it had an attic-like atmosphere and was spacious enough. There was no air conditioner, no bathtub, just a shower, and the Wifi was fast enough so I didn't feel any particular inconvenience. (There was free drinking water and a fan)There was a parking space in front of the hotel, but the designated parking space was not there, but another location about a minute's walk away.Although it is outside the Rothenburg gate, it is right next to the Galgen Gate, so I don't think it will be an inconvenience for sightseeing.Eight Japanese people stayed here for business purposes, and since it was a small, privately run hotel, it took a long time to check in, but it was very charming.The breakfast was delicious and I think it's a good hotel overall.

Stately, villa-style hotel close to the center with its own parking space + charging station. My room was a bit small and not villa-like - but quiet. The breakfast was great, as was the breakfast room and the service. A good choice for Rothenburg.

Loved staying at this hotel. Beds were comfortable, the use of a kitchen was fantastic and the hosts were so kind & helpful. The rooms were surprisingly spacious with great water pressure for the shower. The location was convenient to walking all over town. Enjoyed being able to use the kitchen amenities and a night time tea was the perfect way to relax after long day of walking. Only suggestion for improvement would be clearly noting in reservation how/where to check in. We were confused at first on where to check in (& ran into other guests with this same question) but once we found the location it was quick & easy.

Perfect location, you walk into old town within a minute! You can park your car for free at the hotel. (Double check because some parts are paid parking, we were not informed correctly about this upon checkin)We booked a standard room which was outdated. On the website it looks much nicer. We asked if there were rooms with airconditioning because it was 30degrees. The staff told me there were rooms with airconditioning but the hotel was full so we could not switch. We found a fan in the closet which was a good alternative. I booked a few months in advance on the hotel’s website. Now looking again at the pictures and all the good reviews I feel like we have been put in an outdated room. For us it was ok but not value for money.

Loved the experience of staying at this hotel in Rothenburg. Situated just outside the gate of the Old Town is within easy walking distance to explore the old town. The room I had was quite large with a full bathroom and had a large bath.The bed was comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The onsite restraunt is a Michelin star 🌟 restraunt, great for a special romantic evening!

Loved this place!Great hotel at an A+ location. The historic walls of Rothenburg are really just next door.Room was very big and luxurious and staff was amazing. Delicious breakfast, free parking + room aminities & lovely terrace.If you ever go to Rothenburg ob der Tauer (which you should. This town is beautiful), you won't regret your stay at Villa Mittermeier.I will come back one day.

We chose the Villa Mittermeier as the best-rated hotel in Rothenburg. The location of the house is really very good, barely a hundred meters from the historic city walls (but outside the old town). You really can't say anything negative about the room either: very nice and stylish and of course clean. There was also a nice terrace, but it had no boundaries to the other rooms.However, the service is worthy of criticism: it took many attempts by email and telephone until we finally had the booking finalized. We really wanted to go to this hotel, otherwise we would have given up long ago... Example: The direct offer from the hotel and the internet price differed by several hundred euros. Checking out also took significantly longer than in most other hotels we know. The fact that in a hotel of this category you only find hair and body gel in the shower - we have had much better in other hotels.A few more words about the hotel's restaurant: There is no real menu, but rather a menu from which you can choose courses. We left out the courses with offal; we were allowed to swap one course (for a meal that wasn't on the menu). So far OK. What we got tasted very good, you can't describe it as light cuisine, almost every course had Beurre Blanc sauce, but with different flavors. So far everything is good to very good.I find it a shame when, as a non-alcohol drinker, you are more or less forced to drink drastically overpriced juice. There are no mundane industrial drinks like Cola and Fanta here, apart from the juice there is only water. And if you want to know what overpriced juice is for me: My 0.7 liter (7x 0.1l) of white peach juice, retail price online 4.90 euros, cost me 54 (in words fifty-four) euros in the restaurant. I understand that in top-class gastronomy, a lot of effort and great quality also costs money, but in my opinion that borders on usury!

We just had the pleasure of staying at Villa Mittermeier and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The amazing hotel and impeccable service made our stay both comfortable and memorable.The highlight of our visit was dinner in the restaurant. The dining experience was exceptional - every dish was outstanding. Since I'm pregnant, the menu had to be adjusted for me, which was no problem at all for the chef. I received wonderful alternatives! Service was also impressive, with staff knowledgeable, attentive and passionate about providing a first class experience.

It was our first time to eat at Villa Mittermeier and we were extremely impressed.We chose the 5 Plate Experience and all the dishes we chose were simply fantastic! The wine supply was in no way inferior and the service was also great!The presentation of the dishes was great and you also get a card to take away with the composition of the dish explained again.Our son was even asked if he wanted to help prepare his dish!All of this contributed to a wonderful evening that we were able to spend at Villa Mittermeier.Many thanks to the entire team, keep it up! :)

Dear Mr Mittermeier,Last December we were your guests for the first time and were very impressed with your house, so we wanted to check in with you again, have dinner and enjoy your great hospitality. In 2023 we booked via the website rothenburg.de. This year I wanted to take the direct route. Well, after a few emails and a call to your house, I am very unsettled. On the tourism website, the exclusive room is offered for EUR 269.00 and your reception offers us for EUR 320, always excluding breakfast. My friendly comments, even on the phone, were nipped in the bud. I understand the situation and hope that this does not happen again. It would be a shame to lose these great hosts. Actually, the hotel and its employees basically deserve 5 stars. The location is great, the furnishings are very nice and the employees (almost) all very friendly and accommodating.Everything is clean, the breakfast - although quite expensive at first glance - is worth every euro and the service at breakfast is exceptionally good and attentive. Our room was cozy and originally furnished, the size was perfect and we even had a small balcony.Overall our stay was a success.The deduction and the criticism come from two points. Check in and check out (each with the same employee) were a bit chaotic and the lady was friendly but a bit awkward. Above all, the fact that our room door was not locked twice by room service is much more important. We returned to our room twice and found it with the door ajar. Of course we let the reception know straight away. The first time it was simply dismissed (the same lady as at check-in) and the second time there was at least an apology from the insurance company to speak to room service again. We were also promised at least a small apology that we should receive upon check out. However, when we asked about it at check out, this wasn't available because the (still clumsy) lady didn't know anything about it and just dismissed it with a "sorry".It's a shame that this little shadow over our stay, which was otherwise really nice.
