We were here with our 3 children. We liked it a lot. The location is great and everything is within walking distance. I can't understand the bad reviews. We knew because we asked in advance that there was a bathroom in the hallway. At breakfast we always check whether products are empty and refill them straight away. It's better to always refill it than to throw it away. We'll definitely come back at some point.

The hostel scores with its location in the old town, a 5-minute walk from the Holstentor and the friendly staff. The breakfast is okay. However, I didn't find my room completely clean. The facility is also getting old. The sinks should be replaced. Shelves would be helpful in the showers. And the water saving buttons in the toilets don't work. It's a shame about water consumption!

I could certainly have done without the fact that I had to experience a youth hostel like that again on my last school trip or study trip, as it brought together everything that people stereotypically fear about youth hostels.Cramped, uncomfortable rooms with at least functioning sinks but only one shower and toilet per gender on each floor.There was actually quite a nice selection at breakfast, but it didn't seem like there was any intention to be careful with food here. After the first morning, we agreed with the hostel employee that he could order fewer rolls because there were obviously far too many... there are It just felt like there were more of them, the plates that still had pieces of butter on them were just swapped for full ones, and it seems that taking action against food waste hasn't quite arrived here yet.To mention another positive aspect: Everyone gets their own room card, which pretty much prevents them from being completely excluded, but a bit of crazy fiddling with the corresponding knob was necessary to open the doors...

I was there with my class and I have to honestly say I was more than disappointed. Of course the location is great and the reception and staff were very nice, but;1. Rooms are dirty. Leftover food (even though eating in the rooms is forbidden) was already lying on the naughty beds upon ARRIVAL. Moldy sweets in the corners. There is untreated water damage in one room, resulting in a hole right in front of the sink.2. Plumbing disaster. The drains stink, there is a toilet and a shower in the entire hallway. These are also dirty.3. Super clairaudient! It feels like the walls are made of cardboard. You understand every word from the people who live UNDER a building and the people who walk past the outside of the building. So getting enough sleep is out of the question here.

I think it's nice there, the stairwell smells a little but that has to do with the fact that other people live super close to the city center, the beds are fine, everything is clean, of course it's stupid that the toilets are in the hallways but I mean what do you expect it is a youth hostel and not a hotel so if you are dissatisfied buy something else 🤔

Nice staff, clean rooms.Unfortunately only one shower/toilet in the entire hallway + fairly small shower cubicles (you keep bumping into each other)But a great place to stay for 2-3 nights.School classes are sometimes very loud during the week.

Are here on a school trip, the horror! Two rooms are much too small as are the closets and beds. Beds also dirty (fingernails, plasters, etc…)Showering was not possible because there were no showers inside the room and the shower (only a shower and toilet) outside in the hallways smelled very bad and was unbearable. But it was in a great location and there was good free WiFi.

So from my point of view that's an average of 2.5-3 stars, let's get to the points:1. The room we had (No. 48) was fine so far, you can't complain2. Service: the reception staff were very friendly and nice, I have to say honestly, they are available if you have any questions.3. General deficiencies: 1. what is very crucial are the toilets and showers, unfortunately there is only 1 toilet and a shower per floor, and that with an average of 6-8 rooms per floor, I personally think that's not enough, because let there be a toilet jam. 2. the breakfast: I personally think the room is too small with so many guests vacationing there. If you go downstairs at 7:30 or around 8 a.m., you won't be able to sit downstairs in peace, because everything is already there is documented and that made me very angry because people were so happy about it. So in my opinion you would have to add another room so that one or two guests have the opportunity to have breakfast, because with around 60-80 guests only around 20-25 seats is clearly not enough.The areas you can visit there are very easy to reach and you also have lots of great options for things to do.

Stayed one night in a 2 bed room. Perfect location in the city center. Room size is small enough and unfortunately very stuffy. Beds comfortable.Breakfast also good. It's just a shame that at the moment... There was scaffolding in front of the house and we couldn't ventilate it without being afraid of visitors at night. Would love to come back.

We booked ourselves here for a mother-daughter weekend.The JH is beautifully located right in the city and you can easily reach everything on foot.Our room was very clean, quiet and with a view of the inner courtyard. The shared bathroom wasn't a problem.The JH has a great starting point because you can reach everything on foot from here.We parked in one of the surrounding parking garages for a reasonable price.The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful, the breakfast room is rustic and cozy.The staff and the hostel father are very friendly.We will definitely come back, because Lübeck is a great, lively city that is in no way inferior to Hamburg, where we actually wanted to go.Thank you for the nice stay with you and see you soon!

Our school trip was the worst ever!The rooms are really rancid and disgusting. Hair on the floor and other pollution.You have to share 1 bathroom with everyone.The breakfast room is far too small and the breakfast in general is terrible.I get dry bread, cold cuts and butter at home 100 times better.You also have to go to another youth hostel for dinner.Never again and for €270!?No, not with me!

Apart from the fact that the pollution from the previous owners was horrendous and therefore not the least cleaning after a stay can be expected, the cleanliness of the only 2 toilets on the floor is also poor. The only thing that makes the experience worth it is the distance to the pedestrian zone so that you can enjoy your stay with the spirits you bought there.Do you need to know...

We stayed in the youth hostel for a weekend, the location is of course hard to beat. Reaching the city center with all hotspots is possible in no time.The youth hostel itself is clearly getting old, there is a strange smell everywhere. Our room was on the 4th floor which can only be reached via a staircase.The room was sparsely furnished, a double bed as a bunk bed was available here for which there was not even a suitable bed sheet available. As well as cupboard sink, table with 2 chairs. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Among other things, there was still a bag from the previous person hanging on the heater and receipts were under the bed as well as a lot of dust. The sink in the room was cracked.There is only one shower/toilet for women and one for men on the entire floor. There is a strong smell of drains in the wet room. The shower decides independently whether you get a contrast shower. You either get scalded or freeze to death.The rooms themselves are very, very noisy.There's nothing to say about breakfast, which you eat in a room/room that's far too small. There was enough of everything there, except for seats for the guests. Some ate breakfast sitting on the stairs in front of the hostel. Furthermore, the furniture in the anteroom/reception is broken. Chairs broken and tiles on the floor completely loose.All in all, the price-performance ratio here is by no means appropriate.I intentionally don't post any photos. Anyone who stays here has to make up their own minds, we will avoid this hostel.

I was in Lübeck for a five-day seminar, and my accommodation in the Altstadt youth hostel was more than satisfactory. Simple and simple but functional accommodation that meets all needs at the price-performance ratio.Easily accessible on foot from the main station/ZOB, bus connection possible nearby.The staff was very, very friendly and helpful and helped me with all my problems and requests; I was even provided with vegan alternatives for my breakfast upon request. Big thank you for that.

The prices are just outrageous for the condition of the hostel. Holes in the wall, shower head holder broken, soap missing from toilet, water temperature control fluctuates wildly and is clearly set too warm. There is an unpleasant smell almost everywhere, especially in the stairwells and toilets. Rooms are very minimalistic, with clearly not enough sockets. Breakfast is ok, room for improvement. Luckily my stay is paid for, I would ask for my money back. The rooms and the entire house are incredibly noisy, ear plugs are strongly recommended.2 stars are still benevolent.
