Great location for public transport, close to city center. best choice if you are young and travelling alone or with friends, many bars and clubs nearby. Rooms are 10/10 condition.

The geographical location is OK, Munich East Station out about ten minutes to arrive, but the room is particularly poor, six room dormitory only three beds, two beds in the middle of the aisle is less than 20cm, downstairs two or three in the morning and the bar disco, very noisy

We had a last-minute trip to Munich and couldn't find a hotel near Werkviertel and came across Wombat's City Hostel. It also had double rooms with a private bath &toilet so we gave it a try and we absolutely loved it! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and totally okay as hostel, and they even had a little breakfast for €6.90 only. And the location is absolutely stunning: Werkviertel is totally cool, you should see it!

The Wombats is still relatively new, so the furnishings are new and modern. The Werksviertel also offers great opportunities as a new district (rail connection, close to the center, great atmosphere, good food). Therefore great location!However, I was annoyed by the extremely loud electronic music that played in the bar every evening. There's also a beer pong contest on Tuesdays... This attracts one clientele but alienates another!

The front office made me feel really welcome. The cafe/bar doesn’t have the same warmth, possibly because of the numbers. Service was extremely slow as if they didn’t really care about business.The room was fantastic. As good as a hostel can be.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I arrived in Munich for Oktoberfest and checked into Wombat City Hostel after a very stressful day. From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed by Joey at the reception. His professionalism and kindness immediately put me at ease. Joey went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, turning what could have been a rough start into a genuinely pleasant experience. It’s rare to find someone who truly understands the value of excellent customer service, and Joey exemplifies that. If you’re staying at Wombat, you’re in great hands with him. Thank you, Joey, for making my stay so much better!

Excellent experience! Good location and super close to the m subway. Super kind and helpful staff, comfortable and well-equipped structure. We were very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the bathroom only has a shower curtain and that makes everything wet. I recommend it and would go back!

stayed in the dorm room (2 bunk beds) the curtains were so nice to have with staying with some girls i didn’t know. wish they had free towels with the rooms but luckily i brought one. no hair dryer. the breakfast had a lot of selections …

Overall good experience staying at the hostel itself. The hostel was very close to the train station so getting around in the city was easy. I stayed in a six person room and it had everything i need.The only hiccup while I stayed at Wombat Munich Werkviertel was that when I ordered drink at the bar (a wine spritzer I believe), a few minutes after I got the drink, I realized that there was a gnat or some other tiny insect in my drink. I went back to the bar and asked for another drink. There were two bartenders there that night, and one of them immediately accused me of putting the insect in the drink and said that if I want another drink I need to pay for a new drink. Sir - I don't even know where I could find a gnat to put in that 5-euro drink while chatting with three other friends I just made at the hostel.That attitude was concerning.The other bartender came over and said to the first bartender something - unfortunately I do not understand German but based on his body langugae and hand gesture, I would not be surprised if the second bartender told the first one that the wine has been left open on the counter for a while and it would not be crazy to have a gnat fly into the wine bottle and then got mixed into my drink. The second bartender professionally gave me a new drink at no cost.I wish i had tipped the second bartender but I was so distressed and embarrassed after hearing the accusation by the first bartender and just chugged my drink and left the bar.

The location is perfect! Everything is within walking distance, and the service was amazing. The only downsides are that the room can get a bit hot on hot days, and the street in front can be a bit noisy. However, the cost benefit ratio is good overall.

READ: NO AC. NO AIR CONDITIONER. But, they do have a personal fan in each bunk. If you want to check on your laundry drying, the machine will not start again until you pay “again”.

We were here for a weekend in Munich and had booked a double room. During the weekend a lot of people go out at the bottom of the hostel. The bathroom was not well equipped, after every shower the entire bathroom was wet. Breakfast for 7 euros was OK for the price and quality.

One of the best hostels in Munich. Price is competitive yet good for the value you get when booking at this Wombats hostel. Flexible booking options and easy modification/cancellation, though you will not need to look elsewhere as this is the place to book for sure.The front desk staff are absolutely amazing!! I cannot express this enough. They went above and beyond to help me with any issues I had during my stay, such as extending my stay by one more day as well as going upstairs to my dorm to unlock my defective lock set. Overall excellent customer service! Room amenities in the dorm were clean and modern. I had a large piece of luggage, a duffel bag, and a bag, and it fit in the provided lockers in the dorm, so I did not have to rent the ones downstairs. Lock system is intricate and I did not have to worry about having to use my own.Wombats Werksviertel is at a buzzing attraction in Munich, so if you’re young this is an amazing hostel. However, at the same time, if you enjoy peace and quiet, this isn’t the particular location to book, as the hostel is located directly next to the bars which are open til late hours of the night, and the hostel does host various activities which can be loud. Luckily the windows have amazing noise reduction so you don’t hear much of this when the window is closed.I must warn, as a female traveller myself, that the female only dorms do get booked out fairly quickly, especially in peak seasons. And unfortunately, this is a hostel where a “mixed dorm” is not really a mixed dorm, more like a dorm where all the male travellers plus 1-2 female travellers are placed. In my opinion this is probably a male employee making the room arrangements. Personally it did not affect me as I was only in the dorm to rest and sleep and my flatmates were respectful, but I understand this arrangement may make a female traveller uncomfortable. If it’s any consolation, I felt safe during my entire stay and safety is a number one priority in this hostel.Would definitely book this hostel again if I ever come back to Munich!

This hostel is, I'm fairly certain, a converted hospital. Each room having an en suite bathroom with an emergency aid rip cord kind of gives that away. It's very nice the way it's decorated but my biggest complaint is that the mattresses are as hard as a soft rock. Seriously, I think I've slept on softer dirt. Kept me tossing and turning all night to avoid the pain it put on pressure points. I guess I don't have enough fat on my body to provide the cushion the mattresses don't.The common areas were very nice though, and it was very entertaining to watch the rock climbing walls outside the back patio area.And if you're not going to have AC (even in a converted hospital) then having the personal fans in each bunk is a nice plus! Air movement is the key to comfort when you can't afford modern comforts....which makes NO sense in friggin Munich, Germany which is as modern as it gets without being America. Seriously though, the entire city felt like Atlanta, Georgia in the US except everyone spoke different languages. My opinions on Munich have no bearing on the rating of the hostel, however, I just figured I'd include it for reference.
