We really liked the charm of the house and the location, very central and within walking distance of Kurfürstendamm. The subway and bus stations are also not far from this house. The elevator is something for the brave, it has real old building charm. It is a disgrace that this house can be called a hotel. In addition, it is hard to believe that this hotel should have a star rating of 3. Starting with the fact that you have to take your room key out of a key safe at the entrance door, as the reception is no longer staffed (supposed to be staffed from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., arrival at 5:30 p.m.).Then you take the elevator to the floor where the room is supposed to be and have to go through a kind of apartment door. When you walk through the house later you know why, because there is also a doctor, a media company and another family living in this house.A kettle awaits you in the hallway where you can make tea or instant coffee. If you turn around you see a lamp that is only held on to the wall by the cable. When you arrive in the room, you first look around and unfortunately discover a thick layer of dust on the stucco and cobwebs on the ceiling. The curtain in front was a little damaged by our predecessors, so that it only hung half-lived on the ceiling, and the curtain doesn't really make it dark. If you look out the window, you can see peeling paint and a cracked window. In the not-too-large bathroom, you can see a lot of former holes, the hairdryer's cable is already bare, and the shower tray makes "honking" noises as soon as you enter the shower tray. Limescale spots are clearly visible here and there. The carpet in the entire room has indefinable stains, as well as the furniture, traces of cigarettes.Either we were really unlucky with our room or the operators of this “hotel” attach zero importance to making the guest feel comfortable. I also won't let the excuse that they want to offer everything at reasonable prices stand, even if it is/was trade fair time, €957.57 for two people and three nights is absolutely excessive.

I have to be honest, I'm confused and also disappointed. The self-impression does not match what the guests find. After a few days I just looked at the pictures here on Google of what the hotel should look like. In my opinion that had nothing to do with reality. An example: In the pictures you can see lovingly decorated rooms. Folded towels on the beds, friendly lighting and even a flower in the bathroom. In reality, however, it looks grey, dreary and uninviting. The individual hotel rooms used to seem to belong to an entire apartment. The individual rooms in the apartment are now the hotel rooms. Due to the old building, the house is noisy and the floors crack very loudly when you walk. Despite everything, I have to say it wasn't loud. Rather calm. At least during our stay. However, after I entered the room for the first time, I was a little disappointed. It just doesn't seem inviting. And upon closer inspection, that wasn't the only problem. The cleaning of the rooms is not thorough. And the furnishings are not only older, but also in poor condition. Would you like an example of this too? The thick layers of dust and the burn marks on the bedside tables.I honestly don't know how to put all of this into words. Because I really don't want to say anything bad or give the impression that I'm giving a bad review purely out of emotion. However, we paid a total of 1,000 euros for 3 nights. And for this price the quality was not adequate. Last year I paid the same price for the same number of nights (including breakfast) at another hotel and that was a completely different category of hotel.Of course you can argue that it is an older building etc. But still, there are certain basic things that are always offered. Cleanliness, for example. By the way, the TV remote control didn't work either. Or we used it to control the neighbor's TV. No idea.A lot has already been written about the reception. Therefore I don't want to say anything about it at this point. To me it seems more like the hotel is either being run on a low budget or as a part-time business. By the way, the argument that you want to keep prices low doesn't work. Because then we wouldn't have paid a 4-digit amount. If you argue that the prices are higher during the trade fair... well then not.Well, okay. All in all I cannot recommend this hotel. I wouldn't visit it again, even if the old style could have some charm and you could really do something with this building.By the way, you get the keys from a mini safe at the entrance door with a numerical code. The delivery will probably take place in the same way or via the mailbox. It's definitely very anonymous. More like Airbnb style. At least that's how I imagine it there.By the way, the elevator actually works as promised. Provides a little thrill, but why not. To be honest, it also has a certain charm.

Received no email with how to enter. Called the emergency number at least 8 times that night. No answer at all. Found another number in the hallway, same story. So there I was, in a strange country with no place to sleep. …

The hotel was disgusting. Spent a night here with my wife. The room smelled of smoke, the furniture was old and partly broken, there were cobwebs on the walls, a water stain on the ceiling, there was dirt in the bathroom and in general the room seemed to be falling apart. I'll never come here again.
