I stayed here with my daughter from October 13th to 14th, 2024.It should be the castle because I come from Wallhausen and went to school in the castle for 10 years.A big compliment to the owner, very well renovated and restored. We were also happy with the room.But... after we returned from Sangerhausen from dinner at 8 p.m. on the day of arrival, the castle was dark. Only now and then did the hallway lights shine through some windows. No one from the staff can be seen anywhere.We didn't think that was nice at all. The lady at the reception should have told us that and perhaps also what should we do in an emergency. But well, we survived and the castle ghost left us alone.We have an extra p for breakfast. P. Paid €14. But for slices of sausage and cheese, rolls, a boiled egg and a glass of yoghurt with at least fresh fruit, it's just way too expensive. There is no question as to whether you would like fried or scrambled eggs, no muesli. It wouldn't have been such a huge effort for two people.Well, I satisfied my curiosity but I wouldn't stay here again because it's simply overpriced.We had a standard room, 120€ + 2x breakfast.

We were passing through and saw the hotel by chance. It is a real castle with long corridors, very large rooms, furnished with old furniture and a beautiful garden in front. It also houses an art collection as the owner was a gallery owner.

Rather sobering on the day of the week. Everything is closed, the hotel is accessible without the staff running away as if it were deserted. Well, there will probably only be something going on in Wallhausen in the evening.

25-7-2024 ..Had booked reservation for a night... Arrived at the hotel before 20pm, and all doors were locked, no one answers the phone.Wasted a lot of time driving to the "hotel" ... Definitely not a place to be recommended to others.

Damn quiet situation. There's no other way to say it. No street noise, no aircraft noise. You can sleep well with the window open. My room was large and so far clean. Bathroom as well.The windows are “darkened” with light roller blinds. A roller blind disintegrated into its individual parts when I pulled it out. Another one was a bit difficult. Then I didn't move any further.The bed, however, is a disaster. Very soft. Overall, I didn't sleep well in it. Neck pain is inevitable.Breakfast depends on how busy the hotel is. For the first two days, like in Corona times, we received a ready-made plate of sausage and cheese. There were also only rolls. On the last day there were more guests and there was also a buffet. But everything is quite economical. Not great service. The gentleman from the staff. Showed me where the pump pot for the filter coffee is and the rest is “do it yourself”.So, in the end: You can do it, but I personally wouldn't do it

I celebrated my big birthday in the castle. A very nice location to celebrate. There was great service from preparation to going home. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was given very good advice when choosing food and it also tasted very good. The overnight guests were thrilled with their rooms. Each room is individually furnished and you feel very comfortable in this castle ambience. Only the darkening of the windows could be better. Otherwise everything was great.

We booked a night in the castle to visit the Rosarium in Sangerhausen. The welcome from one of the owners was very nice. As soon as we checked in we reserved a table in the restaurant for the evening. Everything worked out fine. The room was large, friendly furnished and very clean. The bed was large and comfortable. Only the darkness was too bright for us, so we woke up very early. The bathroom was ok, there was a bit of a lack of storage space. A wardrobe would also be great, but that's complaining on a high level. The breakfast was completely sufficient and nicely presented. All in all, a recommended place to stay. We would book it again.

Admittedly, I'm a "repeat offender", so it wasn't the first time I've been here. Which speaks for the quality of the house. And it was confirmed. Quiet location, pleasant ambience and a beautiful region make the decision easy. Thanks to everyone and I'm looking forward to it again on the next stay.

On Saturday, May 25, 24, we were looking for a restaurant to satisfy our hunger. We remembered having a good meal at a family celebration in the castle hotel. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed this time. The courtyard was empty and when we asked at the hotel reception we were told that the restaurant was closed today. There was no sign anywhere

We stayed at Wallhausen Castle with 7 adults and 8 children over Ascension Day. We liked it very much. The staff is extremely friendly and flexible with special requests. Some things seem a bit improvised, but it's not an off-the-shelf 4-star hotel. The rooms are very nice, we had, among other things, the huge wedding suite. Everything is very well maintained and clean. The children can play in the large garden, including with balls, while the parents are well looked after with cake and drinks. The additional tour we booked about the history of the castle was very exciting and lively for young and old. Many excursion destinations can be reached within a 30-minute drive (Kyffhäuser Monument, Barbarossa Cave, Monkey Forest, Nordhausen, Stolberg, Bad Frankenhausen Panorama Museum, Arche Nebra Sky Disk and much more). Wallhausen Castle is highly recommended for smaller groups!

Pure experience gastronomy!We were there on New Year's Eve and were looking forward to fine dining based on the many pictures on the website and the reviews. The castle also offers a great ambience. But unfortunately we have to say that the canteen around the corner could have done a better job. From the menu selection to the presentation, it was a big movie. The next morning the whole thing was rounded off with culinary delights, from breakfast, starting with fried scrambled eggs to cold coffee. Quite unprofessional for this price range. The only positive things were the regional wines and the large, clean rooms.

We celebrated our wedding at Wallhausen Castle on August 19, 2023. Our dream of a castle wedding came true. All in all it was a perfect day, the staff always tried to ensure that everything fit our expectations. Big thanks go to Ms. Gerhardt, who always had an open ear for us during the stressful weeks of preparation and found a solution for every “problem”.Since we come from the Leipzig area, we also accommodated all our guests in the hotel. Nothing was missing here either.We would like to thank the entire team at Schloss Wallhausen again for our special day!

Unfortunately it wasn't such a nice first family short vacation. We had booked a suite with two additional beds for our children. The room was huge, which we really liked.Unfortunately, the beds were very uncomfortable, the canopy on the bed and the curtains were cheap polyester fabric, which we didn't like. The water ran out every evening in the evening, we basically only had cold water, which was quickly remedied, but when you have three children under three who want to go to bed early and have to be bathed, it's not so fun.We took part in the buffet on the first day, unfortunately not our cup of tea either, little choice, classic canteen food but a hefty price of €80. Apple spritzer was served in a mini glass and this also cost 2.50. In the best case scenario, the waiter brings you the glass and opens a spritzer at the table, but it was already mixed and brought to the table. We also found it rather unprofessional.I reserved the room by phone and also provided my email address, but I did not receive a booking confirmation. I was also promised a sum of €390 over the phone including breakfast. In the end we were allowed to pay a whopping €430 for two nights. Of course they wanted to settle this amount in cash, but we insisted on card payment and an invoice.By the way, the breakfast was just as bland as the buffet…The children were also charged €10 like adults, so we came to €80 for the two days. I don't think it's really fair either.What I would rate as positive was the cleanliness, the room seemed quite clean, there was minimal mold in the shower and also a bit yellowed, but good.I also thought it was a shame that there was nothing for children, no playground, no playroom or anything like that. It was more of a pensioner/hiker hotel.
