Bad service, watch out! Car towed away from the hotel at our request without informing us! The rooms are okay in terms of price-quality. The service of the hotel is dramatic, the receptionists do not want to cooperate. We selected this hotel based on parking. When checking in the receptionist was almost asleep. When we arrived at the hotel in the evening, our car had been towed away. Without any communication (calling/emailing) our car was towed to a place outside the city. Costs 320 euros and no service or empathy at all to look for solutions.

Please consider carefully before booking this hotel. It is a maze of small lifts, stairs & halls; even the staff got lost. The room was so small we couldn't open our cases easily. The toilets rolls were behind the door! I had the hide to ask for another roll & after waiting more than 1/2 hour I asked again and was told to come back!! Nien gut! In my best German. It took 2 minutes to get 2 rolls thrown down on the table beside me!After walking down stairs to breakfast I found that the room was clean and staff pleasant. Not much variety but good.The other good point is that there was plenty of hot water in the tiny shower. Oh, if you are only short like me you can't see in the bathroom mirror 😏 no make-up today.I can't recommend any Novum Hotel.

Worst hotel I've stayed in in 2 months of travelling. The breakfast hasn't much variety for 10 euros. The hotel had too many stairs and is like a maze to find your room.The bathroom is so small but the hot water is good.Some of the staff are rude and not helpful at all. I will never stay in another Novum hotel.

At first it was difficult to establish contact by telephone. The room is so small, in no way a room for two people. After a change with an additional payment, completely fine... and a delicious breakfast, especially the rolls 😋 the coffee ☕️ 🤔🫣 should really be better

The rooms are mediocre and uncomfortable. The heater radiators look very dirty. Bathroom, toilet, old shower, entry and exit may be difficult for +65. For breakfast, the restaurant is small and guests can choose three time zones to receive service. It has no advantage other than its location.

I was quite satisfied until I checked out. The manager told me that the room staff reported I smoked in my room. I was absolutely offended. By this. They already showed incompetence in a small minor thing... I hung up my towels but they still replaced them when I didn't need that done. The front desk staff were all super nice and would have given another star except for the smoking comment. Hope the AH who reported that sees this! I'll have to find somewhere else if my friends and I stop in cologne for a night. I was going to return.

Unfortunately all the negative reviews are true... I've been in a lot of hotels with 2 to 5 stars... I've never experienced anything like this... I don't know what was the worst... The bed where one foot was missing and it wobbled with every movement... The pubic hair on the toilet... The hair on the walls or the towel holder that was stuck where I don't want to know what lived on it... Room at the top and elevator broken. .. stairwell dirty of death...as a mother alone with a child you have to be really afraid in the area...

Left crying again!!The pictures on the website and the rooms in reality were a world of difference. Me and my friend were positively surprised by the pictures and the website and were really happy. After we arrived, the man at the reception was partly nice but only partially spoke German. After I was asked to pay more numbers, for whatever reason, the fun really began.When we got to the top of the floor everything was already dirty and run down in the hallway. The door to the room was open, the bed wasn't made and everything was dirty. What was stated on the website as equipment did not match either.After we mentioned this at reception he wanted to take a look at it, but didn't get around to it. Without batting an eyelid we wanted our money back straight away! However, the gentleman at reception had no idea about it either. After I wanted to speak to someone who could do this and help us further, he called and said he was just as capable of doing this and was given instructions over the phone for repayment etc.I left the hotel crying and we were left without a hotel in Cologne!!!Worst day ever. Never again !! Preferably zero stars

Never this hotel again!I don't even know where to start. The first impression was already a disaster: the hotel looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 90s - and I mean that in a negative sense! The reception was unfriendly, annoyed and anything but helpful. No smile, no greeting, just an annoyed “What do you want?”The room? An absolute joke! Tiny, dirty and stuffy. It smelled of a mixture of mold and old damp, as if no one had ventilated the room for months. The windows didn't close properly, so it was either freezing cold or noisy all night with the constant street noise coming through. There was hair in the bed - not just one or two, but enough that I wondered if the place was ever cleaned. The mattress was so sagging that I had back problems. The carpet was sticky, and don't even get me started on the stains on the sofa. It was disgusting.The bathroom was its own disaster. The shower didn't work properly, either only had boiling hot water or ice cold water, there was nothing in between. There was mold in the joints, limescale stains on the fittings and the towel that was provided had holes in it and smelled musty. It was disgusting.For breakfast: an absolute disgrace. The selection was so poor that it could hardly be called breakfast. Old, hard rolls, cold coffee and shriveled fruit. The rest looked like they had already survived the week. The dining room was dirty, tables were not cleared and the staff ignored the guests as if they didn't care at all.The entire hotel area was run down and dirty. Garbage everywhere, and the promised “quiet location” turned out to be a lie. It was loud, chaotic and there was no sign of relaxation. The pool area was also a disgrace: the water was cloudy, the loungers were broken, and everything looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months.Conclusion: Stay away from this hotel! It really doesn't get any worse. If I had stayed overnight in a tent at a rest area, it probably would have been more pleasant. Pure rip off!

We stayed for 1 night from September 22nd. on 9/23/24 in this hotel and can confidently say never again. The room and bathroom are from the 70s, unfortunately the room also smelled like that. No ventilation, a sagging mattress, plus we had rooms on the ground floor directly facing the street, so the windows couldn't be opened completely... Breakfast was also very spartan and unloving... Price/performance was definitely not right... For us once and never again...

This was pretty much the most unpleasant hotel I've stayed in in the last 15 years. And I've been to many, including hotels in the Novum chain. But calling this building a “hotel” is a bit risky. For people over 1.65 m, using the bathroom is an adventure. Toilets are only for children to use, it wasn't just a hole in the floor, that's all. Showering quickly becomes a life's work, as you're more likely to get wet in a rain shower than in a shower. The hallways smelled very musty, and something else was clean. Even now the elevator was still broken, which according to the other reviews here has been the case for a long time, but no one seems to care. The only good thing about the hotel is the location, as you can walk to Rudolfplatz quite quickly and have good transport connections from there. All in all, this hotel is in absolute need of renovation and is not recommended.

Most terrible hotel. I won't even start with cleanliness, hygiene and professionalism, the other comments are enough. How can a hotel like this still be open? Management is totally uncaring and doesn't seem to like their job.There are guests who are totally disrespectful and loud from the windows and in the hallways. You can't sleep at night. Management does nothing about it. From that alone you can understand what a dump hotel this is.It's an imposition, especially don't come here if you have children.

My girlfriend and I had booked a total stay of 4 days in this hotel - those were the most inhumane and horrible 4 days of our lives in a hotel.At the beginning, the hotel didn't even know that you could book an "early and late departure" for a fee of €15.00 via their homepage, and that we actually had to discuss on site that we had booked an early arrival and not just that You should get into your room from 3:00 p.m. We were then given a room where the toilet didn't flush, we immediately complained about this at the reception, the employee then wanted to give us a smaller room than we had paid for, after a lot of back and forth, we were given a room that was the same size as was booked.You don't even need to start with hygiene in this hotel, as this is a foreign concept to them.The smoke detector is just missing from the ceiling, but no one was interested in this, we should just leave the smoke detector lying on the table, it would "fit". Then our safe doesn't work, but nobody here knows anything about it. "Safe in the room? Do we have something like that?" - that is the reaction we received. But not enough.. When we ordered food at 11 p.m. and asked for two forks we were LAUGHED AT and INSULTED!!! We should look outside for cutlery.. ''WHAT?? When we asked for fresh towels, we had to first justify what they were because we were given some upon arrival and they were supposed to be used until the end. Our toilet was clogged for 2 DAYS, the water stood - no one was interested in this either, we just shouldn't flush it?? and although we paid for this (as already mentioned, early and late arrival and departure costs 15 EURO extra) we were woken up by the cleaning staff at 10 a.m. with such a loud knock that we had to check out. We explained this several times to various employees that we have a LATE CHECK-OUT - so we paid 15 EURO to be disturbed and disturbed THREE TIMES from 10am!!! When we also complained about this down at reception, the cleaning lady came down and shouted at us that she didn't give a damn what anyone had, she had to prepare the rooms and didn't want to see anyone in them when she came.I strongly advise against this hotel!!! Actually, a few authorities should take a look at the hotel, because this hotel probably doesn't even exist.Oh and there was no management, supervisor or anyone in charge in this hotel - no one knows anything.Everything that can go wrong goes wrong in this hotel. !!!

The rooms are dirty and shabby.Disgusting smell in the hallways.Reception unfriendly and unhelpful. TV didn't work. We were simply forgotten when the rooms were cleaned. Breakfast boring and loveless. There was only regular coffee, no scrambled eggs and no fruit. Sad! Never this hotel again.

I would love to give 0 stars, but unfortunately that's not possible.The three of us stayed in this hotel during Gamescom in Cologne.The booking was made via Booking and we had booked a triple room (3 beds, 1 room)When we arrived we were first told that the elevator wasn't working.With our luck we got a room on the 3rd floor (it would have been room 303) so we had to drag our feet.To our shock, we discovered that this room was a complete shambles (unfortunately I only took photos of the second room, but one of the other two people traveling with me will definitely send the photos later)In room 303, the big flush in the toilet doesn't work, the TV was half-heartedly connected and didn't even have channels and one of the three beds we booked was just an unfolded, uncomfortable armchair on which no one, and I mean no one, should sleep.We then went down to the reception and after an eternity of discussion, although I'll spare you the details here, just this quote from the receptionist: "Well, I wouldn't book a 3 star hotel." At the end of the quote, we were given another room even though there were supposedly no other rooms 😉At first they wanted to give us 10% for a broken flush and maybe offer us another room the next day.After hours of discussion, the room suddenly became available on the same day, well believe it.So we were given room 106, which is where these pictures come from.Dirty carpet, bathroom very "inviting", buttons missing, towel rack had disappeared from the wall, the big light in the room itself didn't work.I could certainly list more shortcomings, but we got tired of it and accepted it.So I don't understand how this hotel can have 3 stars. This hotel belongs to an actually good hotel chain, the Novum chain.But what is there in Cologne's old town is maximum and really worth a generous 1 star.We or I can't say anything about breakfast because 18€ per day per person according to the booking was too expensive. (There is a top bakery nearby, see my reviews)It's dingy, it smells musty, it's uninviting, there's no climate in the rooms and I think the way our two rooms looked, the others looked too, so there's a massive renovation backlog.And then the price of 1500€ for 4 nights is in itself a disgrace for the room you got.Only the cleaning ladies were good, the rooms were always cleaned when we came back and the towels were changed, they are really worth the money.It doesn't cost anything to pick up paint, plaster and kit and repair broken things and change the disgusting, dirty red carpet you call flooring into something easy to care for (laminate, PVC, parquet, whatever).It runs completely through the stairwell and the rooms and has probably seen better days since 1980.Just like it doesn't cost much to be nice and not hire an indifferent receptionist who can't even call your boss on a Wednesday afternoon.Apart from the location in the old town, this hotel is not recommended.So do yourself a favor and avoid it.

The hotel staff was very unfriendly, there was a strong smell of unpleasant smells… the path to the hotel room was very dirty and stained (floor and walls), there was no elevator. The hotel room was so dirty and unkempt that we checked out after 5 minutes. When we said it was dirty, there was no reasonable answer!Not recommended!
