The castle is in an idyllic location and is ideal for seminars and school trips. There is the possibility to book various activities on site, such as craft and forest education workshops, but we didn't take advantage of them because there was enough to discover. You can also borrow balls and other sports equipment.Food requests and dietary habits were taken into account very well, and the quantities of food were always sufficient. There was even the option of grilling yourself and there was a nice fireplace for stick bread, but you had to register in advance.The service and staff were very friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, but the stairwell was a bit poorly ventilated. A small kiosk sells snacks, which is very convenient.Overall, the Jugendburg Hessenstein is a wonderful place for group activities, with friendly staff and a wide range of leisure activities.

Booking went great via email. There is a really friendly team on site.The journey by bike on the federal highway was characterized by speeders. There is no bike path. The path to the castle is a bit steep uphill, as you would expect when going to a castle.The castle is really great. Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun.

We had a really great short vacation as a family in the Hessenstein youth castle. The staff were very friendly, the food was tasty and sufficient and the castle fascinated the children, as did the surrounding area!We will definitely come back.

Burg Hessenstein is much more than a normal youth hostel. In the middle of nature in the Kellerwald National Park, in the Edersee holiday region… great, super-friendly and warm staff, cleanliness with a feel-good character, delicious food…Many varied and natural offerings for groups (we did archery).We were there with our class (children with intellectual disabilities) for the second time and it won't be the last time!If data protection allowed, I could have added many more photos of very happy children!ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDATION!

It is a very nice place to rest. Everything is great... but the rooms are very narrow. The bathroom was very modern and everything was very clean. Great view and sleeping in a castle is a great experience.

We were here this weekend with a seminar group (adults) and had full board. The rooms are clean and (mostly) have a bathroom with shower and toilet, without you having to go into the hallway. The location of the youth hostel is fantastic. Apart from the fact that it is a castle (building), the forest is on the doorstep and offers great hiking trails. The kitchen staff is friendly and attentive, so the buffet was always stocked. The food was plentiful, varied and tasty. There was always free coffee in the morning, hot milk for cocoa and hot water for tea. There is also a coffee machine in the dining room and can be used for a fee (max. €1.50). We felt comfortable and I would definitely recommend this place, both for children and adults.
