I received the short vacation as a gift for my birthday. Unfortunately, the weather was changeable in northern Germany, but the James' great wellness/sauna area made up for it.I have to agree with the previous comments almost entirely...I have traveled to many international hotels and I have to say that I have rarely experienced one where the staff were so warm and attentive. The rooms are extremely clean and very attractively decorated. The Lounge + Bar also invites you to linger longer.Breakfast with all its culinary diversity was the highlight of our short vacation. The food not only looked great, but tasted even better ;)The only downside was the gym, which we would have liked to have had more fitness equipment instead of punching bags. This way you could have continued to “sin” with culinary delights with less of a guilty conscience. We can still recommend the hotel 100% and would come back at any time.

I have visited Flensburg many times as a young person, but Hamburg and Berlin have gradually taken over. But I got tired of them in the end, when I experienced a big city arrogance and total lack of service :-/But this time it just sat in the cupboard. We visited the city's old streets and cemetery, while Das James provided first class service and hospitality. The hotel manager has really understood what a first and last hand impression is for the best experience.Well, then there was also the unique decor, the room, sauna section and the best breakfast buffet I have ever eaten! The location is a bit squeezed between houseboats and a road, and 3 kilometers from the center. It is close to the water, but with more of a view of the harbor than the fjord.

Even the telephone reservation and subsequent questions asked were handled by the employees both by telephone and in writing (email) in a completely customer-oriented manner to the fullest satisfaction.Special thanks go to the early check-in at 1:00 p.m., which was used and enjoyed to the fullest. The welcome drink before moving into the room gave the reporter and his wife the first positive impressions of the impressive lobby. When we entered the room (Urban Cozy) we couldn't help but be amazed... The color accents, the interior and the large bathroom with a fantastic rain shower kept what they promised - arrive and feel at home from the first minute. The welcome greeting literally sweetened the first moments of relaxation in the room. After spending the first time in the room and the fabulous view of the harbor through the floor-to-ceiling windows, we went to the spa area. The spa area with saunas and rooftop pool as well as the relaxation rooms guarantee deceleration for body, mind and soul from the first minute.A break in the spa restaurant with a good selection of drinks and food and the service staff working there must also be mentioned.Let's get to breakfast...A selection that you couldn't find better. Thanks to the size of the James Farmhouse restaurant, the layout of the entire breakfast buffet is very well thought out and offers everything your heart desires to start the day.The freshly prepared egg dishes such as: B. the James Benedict egg, the onsen-style hour egg and the omelet enhance the breakfast offering even more.A wide selection of coffee specialties and fresh juices are also offered. All service staff in the breakfast area demonstrate with natural friendliness that they enjoy their work. One day the reporter and his wife decided on the 7 or 7-course menu with caviar and wine accompaniment at Das Grace.Since we chose these menus including wine accompaniment and took time from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., there isn't really much to say about these menus. We can honestly say it was one flavor explosion after another and left our taste buds melting in a way that couldn't be better. The treasure chest with the macarons was the crowning glory of the idea. The entire atmosphere, including the service staff, make this evening at Das Grace one that you will remember forever.Another evening we visited the James Farmhouse restaurant for dinner. The reporter chose the Chateaubriand (500 g), which he had ordered the day before, and which was carved at the table. The degree of doneness - medium rare - was achieved 100%.The beef fillet (250 g) - medium - chosen by the accompaniment was also cooked to perfection. The side dishes such as truffled mashed potatoes with vegetables with the Chateaubriand and the truffled French fries with the beef fillet were more than suitable. The hotel manager must also be mentioned.A hotel manager like he is in the book.Guest-oriented like we have never experienced before – hats off!A hotel manager who is very present and close to the guest. Relaxed and informal conversations that create a pleasant and very warm atmosphere.WE say THANK YOU for your stay at DAS JAMES and look forward to the already booked stay at the beginning of September 2025.

What do you do with a listed old naval base? A gem for the eyes and for living. The "ugly duckling" of this base, the former power plant and the workshops, has been transformed into an exquisite hotel - very successful!Rather inconspicuous from the outside, it is comfortably designed inside, with the remnants of the past successfully integrated. A great mix of cozy elements and industrial charm. The hallways and rooms are very elegantly designed. In the annex there is a spa with a swimming pool, sauna area and family spa, which is very pleasantly designed.Very attentive staff who are well selected and trained and are always there for the guest's well-being.The hotel management, which is visible and approachable to guests and employees, certainly contributes to this.Successful concept, good leadership and excellent quality in every detail. You would expect the exquisite gastronomy and bar in a five-star hotel, but you will not be disappointed here. Freshly processed food from our own organic farm. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast, which I have never enjoyed before with this selection and quality. You don't want to leave anymore. Wonderful!

We were at James 2 years ago for a wellness weekend for two and came back - which doesn't actually happen for us because we always want to get to know and try out "new" things. However, at James it was different and I think we will come back again. It's just special there - in all areas.

Not the starting point for activities, hikes, etc. The friendliness of all the employees should be highlighted positively. Wellness is appealing, fitness is grossly below standard. Food and drinks clearly above average. Below average in terms of price/performance ratio.
