Wonderful family service, very quiet despite the central location, and rarely enjoyed such a delicious breakfast and, to top it off, a bagged lunch! Five stars!

Short summary: A very cozy hotel with very friendly staff and a very good breakfast. The hotel is located on a quiet side street in the Rüttenscheid district of Essen, near the Essen trade fair. The connection to public transport is very good. The hotel also provides you with free public transport tickets if you wish - exemplary! Parking spaces in residential areas are rare. If you arrive by car, you have to allow a lot of time to look for a parking space. My room was very clean. A bit small, but enough for sleeping. You can hang out in the “Bistro” on the ground floor. There is a self-service refrigerator there. You write down the drinks you take and pay when you check out.The breakfast is varied and very tasty. The scrambled eggs here are obviously still made from eggs and not with “whole eggs from a tetra pack”. The salads are also homemade. And there is also a packed lunch for every guest. And at a fair price. Then why deduct stars?I was here in late summer and that's when the lack of air conditioning became noticeable. A ceiling fan provides some relief, but unfortunately it is not a replacement for air conditioning. There is no elevator - which doesn't bother me - but if you have a lot of luggage or have difficulty walking, an elevator would be helpful.Anyone traveling by public transport is in perfect hands here. If you travel by car, things are a little more difficult.Conclusion:- Friendly staff- Fair price - also for breakfast- Very good, tasty breakfast buffet- Packed lunch- Free public transport ticket- Very good public transport connections- Quiet location- No air conditioning- No elevatorA clear recommendation and for me a very clear: “I will stay there again”.

We stayed there one night after a concert by the lake. The welcome was warm and the room was nice. It was also easy to park on the street and the hotel is in a quiet side street. Only the fan in the bathroom was a bit loud - but it only runs when you turn on the light. The breakfast was an absolute highlight - you should definitely book that. For us (on a Sunday) it was more of a brunch and we had enough time to try everything until 11am. A great address for a pleasant stay.
