We knew Garmisch-Partenkirchen as a place and will not comment further here.We chose the Hotel Wittelsbacher Hof because we wanted a quality overnight stay at the start of our cycle tour from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Flensburg.We also got the same impression when we arrived at the hotel. We checked in, took the luggage to our room (we took the stairs because the elevator was unreasonably small) and at first we weren't even disappointed.In many ways the disappointment came later.Cleanliness;You shouldn't look under the beds. Not just some dust, but a thick layer had accumulated there.The drinking glasses on the table were covered in streaks and really didn't invite use.The duvet (not the cover) was very stained at the bottom and had a few holes in it.Technology;The hand shower provided water, but only in a trickling manner, i.e. without the required water pressure.The shower tray threatened to overflow after a short time because the sieve apparently hadn't been cleaned.Renovation.Yes, although there are mostly no complaints to be made indoors, the condition of the outdoor area (balcony) is very poor. The balcony floor appeared to be in need of maintenance and the paint on the wooden beams was peeling off.A 4-star hotel should present itself differently.I found the owner's approach to my complaint about the shower very disappointing. He immediately asserted that he wanted to have a craftsman come. When I informed them the next day that nothing had changed, I received the terse answer that the repairman hadn't come.There is another way!Conclusion: I cannot recommend the hotel.

The hotel and the view from there is very, very beautiful. The room too. It just smelled a bit in the bathroom at first. The staff was super nice and helpful and I also really liked that they had vegan options for breakfast :)

Hotel elegantly furnished. Staff beyond friendly. Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired. The location is close to the center. I had a breathtaking view of the mountains from the room. I can't understand the comments about non-renovated rooms because my room and bathroom were in perfect condition. The wellness area is perfect and, like the whole house, ensures well-being. Parking space in front of the front door.

Unfortunately the hotel is very old. It is in urgent need of fundamental renovation in all areas.Starting in the lobby, elevator, breakfast rooms, everything...The hotel exudes a “modern” charm. The decor from the hotel lobby to the rooms.In my room there were two entrance doors right behind each other. Once one was attached to the outer wall, which opened outwards, and another attached to the inner wall, which opened inwards. So there are two room entrance doors at a distance of the wall thickness.My room was very spartan with a glass table that was probably 40 or 50 years old.bed and a desk. Everything is a bit thrown together.The bathroom was renovated, but only partially. Here, too, there were still parts from the hotel's "founding days".The windows are very old and have been painted over countless times. However, the paint is peeling off.The staff was consistently very nice and accommodating. At the reception but also at breakfast.The breakfast was okay, unfortunately a lot of it was packaged. Not that sustainable.It said there was no parking. But there is an underground car park that is very awkward to park. It has a mega steep ramp to get in and out of. There are additional parking spaces in front of and next to the hotel.The hotel is not designed for bikers (bicycles). There is no shelter. Only in the TG can the bike be parked without the possibility of connecting it.What I don't understand is how the hotel gets a 9.1 rating. That's why I booked there.Basically, I have to say, the hotel is far too expensive for the standard.I can understand the price, the staff and costs need to be covered. But still, the entire hotel needs to be renovated very, very urgently.PS: The hotel is not suitable for people who have difficulty walking or even those with an assistant. To get into the elevator you have to climb several stairs.

The hotel is very run down and in need of renovation. The entrance area initially creates a good impression, but this increasingly disappears as you enter the hotel. There is a single mini-elevator that cannot even accommodate an entire family. The rooms on the third floor under the roof are unbearably hot on summer days - there is no air conditioning. If you are unlucky enough to get a room facing the noisy main street, you have the choice between heat or noise at night. You can't look too closely, but it's completely dusty and dirty under all the furniture. The windows cannot be darkened properly. However, the breakfast is good and the service staff is friendly. What's wrong is the price-performance ratio. This hotel is below average compared to other hotels and the high prices are outrageous.

Room number. 62 In the bathroom, the heating was on level 5 and could not be regulated, even in the middle of summer when the outside temperature was 27 degrees.Rooms were reasonably clean, but were still in their original condition from the 70s.Breakfast, oh well!

Don't know where they got these pictures, not here. Checkin bad, room didn't have fridge as advertised. Had to repack and move to new room. Tv didn't work. Manager was very, very rude. No hot food at breakfast unless you could read the menus that were (in)conveniently placed. Staff didn't speak English. Was told there was no hot food available. Only found out when I was walking out the door and mentioned it to front desk, then of course it suddenly appeared they did. Chased down by front desk staff 5 blocks from hotel for 3E/night tax. Was never asked about it until then. This is same guy hobbling around on crutches acting disabled but he sure could run without them when money was involved.

Unfortunately, this hotel has seen its best days.My room was shabby (leather ornament on the headboard was porous and unhygienic), the minibar was empty, the TV was small with a bad picture, and the single room was very small and very noisy. Far too expensive for the asking price. At the reception I had the impression that the guest was the problem here. The only star for the good and rich breakfast and the service staff. Only 1 star from me.

The hotel has its best days behind it, 60s style. I would appreciate it if the rooms were renovated. Just patching things up here and there can't work well in the long run. I kept waking up because the rooms were very noisy.Unfortunately there was no remote control, even when asked.There was neither a minibar, a coffee corner or even a kettle in the room. The two glaziers on the shelf don't make any sense.Overall, the hotel is worn out and urgently needs renovation.Everything is very old-fashioned!Breakfast was ok, there was everything your heart could desire.The price for the service: too high!

The reception and breakfast staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Immediately after checking in, my wife walked in with our baby and the lady at the front desk offered us a crib free of charge (we sometimes just have the baby in the bed with us), the crib was promptly delivered and set up in our room. The [included] breakfast is great with a variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, veggies, breads, yogurts, ect, and the staff was great as well, bringing us coffee & cooked eggs. Our baby made a mess and spilled on the table, but the kind lady couldn't care less, she just shrugged it off with a wave of her hand. There is a sauna, indoor swimming pool, and free parking in front of and in a lot somewhere behind the property. It's an easy 5 minute walk into town with plenty of grocery stores and restaurants everywhere.The room was a bit outdated (CRT TV!), but it suited us just fine (and there aren't exactly new state-of-the-art hotels in Garmisch)
