Not recommended as a place to visit. It said on the internet that it was open on Monday. When we arrived there after a long hike, there was a simple note hanging on the door: Today we have the day off. (Restaurant was closed). Great.

In order to spend a few days in the Thuringian Forest alongside business activities in nature, I came across the Berghotel Stutenhaus. The view of around 750 m above sea level from the hotel room was fantastic and apart from a few hikers it was just quiet there in early autumn. Only the wind, which was always blowing a little, could often be heard in the rustling of the trees. So pure nature, just as I wanted it.A vehicle is an advantage for the journey, as it climbs over 100 meters in 1.5km from Vesser.The breakfast was fresh and warm, prepared on time, every day. I found it varied, really generous in quantity and lovingly prepared by the young service staff.It probably won't be the last time I've been here.

A truly impressive building. You can literally feel the atmosphere of the past several hundred years. The terrace and view are unbeatable and invite you to linger. The room booking via email worked smoothly and the service staff always tried to do their best. The breakfast also left nothing to be desired. Thank you very much and see you again soon.

Food is the last thing. Hand-warm 'Solyanka' Has nothing to do with it. Roulade, small, tasteless and cold, cold red cabbage,fresh from the jar and a little brown liquid as sauce. Too bad about the money. A cookbook wouldn't be bad. The building needs renovation from the outside. View is great. Soldiers' graves well maintained with information board.

A beautifully located property in the middle of the forest. However, time has stood still here. Visually it doesn't make you feel good at first glance.The offer is ok, and the price is also okay.

Pure nostalgia - here you can see what was possible in the ancient East. The ravages of time have and are eating away at the whole house - if you want you can treat yourself to the suite 👍👍 👍 the rooms are functional and getting old. Caring for and nurturing is clearly a challenge here (personally, financially,...) and certainly a huge task even as a non-local to convince the locals that you mean it seriously and well!!The terrace and the view are amazing - the food is unfortunately disappointing. TK from Rewe - even the outstanding original Thuringian bratwurst is more of a copy of a Berlin bratwurst... There are so many local, very good options here... Basically all the dishes were too cold...The service staff was very nice, friendly and accommodating!

The restaurant is in a great location, the view from the terrace in the sunshine is amazing. The food is very good, the service is nice and also very quick. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the rooms. Of course the whole building seems a bit outdated. But they try very hard to keep everything tidy. I can only recommend it.

I would like to give the hotel a better rating. The location is a dream and the staff is very nice. But unfortunately there are too many “mistakes” at a fundamental level. There was neither a hairdryer nor a trash can in my room, and my colleague's room had dirt on the floor from the previous guest. In both cases the toilets were so small that you came into contact with the sink when sitting. The reception was almost always unmanned, so when we arrived (after a long hike) we had to stand around and wait. At some point during breakfast the coffee ran out and a guest needed several attempts to catch the staff and draw their attention to it. The breakfast overall was also very rudimentary. At dinner, however, everything was great.Overall, you get the impression that the hotel doesn't get the love it actually deserves.

The hotel, well. The room condition was certainly better.But! A great team. Very clean. Very helpful, nice, great breakfast, good service. Restaurant in the house, cuisine is delicious, sometimes does something extra.I will definitely come back there. We liked it a lot. Thanks.

Stop after a bike tour, ambience very old, prices are high, sauce was reordered - it was empty :(- "Dumplings have to swim", very steep stairs to the toilet, view is definitely great when the weather is nice

Contrary to popular belief, the Stutenhaus has not closed permanently - it will probably not be open until the end of March 2024. The view is really great - the property itself has stood for many 100 years. I would really like the owner to think more about the property. Such a great destination where you would like to spend the night is rare to find these days. The kitchen and the service make a real effort, even if they are not “locals”. You can still clearly see how old everything is, I hope that the Stutenhaus gets a little “beauty treatment” during the 3 weeks off. It would be worth it.
