Very bad experience. Very inhospitable Dutch couple when I booked a few nights there through VakantieVeiling in September 2012. Even though I had booked a fixed price package, this horrible couple wanted to charge me extra because I came alone. Yes, so less extra money for the meals, which you had to pay for separately. The fact that I had booked a fixed package did not matter to these bloodsuckers! An extremely inhospitable, unfriendly and non-service oriented discussion ensued. I immediately turned around. Never again to these people and this terrible dump!Postscript: The owners respond extremely unprofessionally to critical responses. 1 star is still too much, especially for the poor service and inhospitable treatment!

We had a great weekend with friends at this hotel this past weekend and it was great! The surroundings are really beautiful, the location and the view of the log cabins and gypsy wagons in which we stayed are really great! In the evening after the delicious dinners we enjoyed a beautiful fire on the fire pit with a tasty snack and drink. The service from the hostess Carin was really great!

Excellent location. Nice and tidy rooms.|Super hospitality.|I would recommend this location.|The owner is very friendly and cooks very well.|We really enjoyed our stay and will return later this year.|Although not in the middle of the centre of Winterberg, this was what Sauerland should be like!

Super experience! Nice log cabin, attractive. Bed sleeps well. With the wood stove you can get nice and warm even in heavy frost. Sanitary facilities are fine. Super sweet hostess

The rudest hosts ever! We had lost my father and my mother wanted to spend a few days away with the family to be together. The hostess treated a us foul after she realised we didn't want to pay for her overprized new years' eve dinner (50 Euro's p.p. !!!). Although the common room was part of our deal, we stayed in our rooms out of courtesy of the guests who did celebrate new year's eve downstairs. We left a day early, a screaming match with my elderly mother in which she demanded for the key to be put 'in her hands', followed. Did she really expect my elderly mother to climb the stairs for her?? Then the hostess tried to screw us over with the touristtax. My mother, had read the about the touris tax and knew it was a scam. We paid the extra day which we didn't use, but not the overcharged tourist tax. The hostess sollution? She called the police on us!! Of course we had a lovely conversation with the police in which we explained everything, and after they told us, Oh we know her, we were free to go. Of course this review is going to be answered with: why didn't you tell us at the time?? We did. We told you about the dirty rooms, filthy sheets, and no, we do not want to eat or drink the overprized food and drinks in a cold common room, and we were treated even worse. These people should not be hosting anything!****sidenote in reply from the host****Apparently you do know who we are, and as expected, your reply is full of lies and rudeness. Let me tell you, calling you out on your rudeness is not stabbing in someones back!! We were paying guests and during breakfast you had your friends sitting together and our family was scattered all over the room. We never had our own food in your common room. The tourist tax was not calculated correctly, and you calling the police on your miscalculation is ridiculous. Yes it was a few years ago, but judging by the reviews of others, nothing has changed, and by the looks of the photo's you still have the thin bedding and towels. You can have all these rules pretending that we broke them, trying to make us look as if we were terrible guests, but fact is, you screamed at my elderly mother who just had lost her husband!! This is just something I can never forget, and for this alone I can only say, you need help.

What a terrible stay. Location was beautiful. We were offered coffee upon arrival, but we had to pay for it ourselves. Extra towel? Pay! WiFi? Pay. Sheets were synthetic and did not smell fresh. …
