The youth hostel in Winterberg is a beautiful, cozy house. Just when you enter the house, with the reception. Just beautiful!! If you want to have a beer in the evening, you can make yourself comfortable next to the reception. And play a few board games with the children. Or the children go to the play area to play. Of course there are also soft drinks!!! The staff are very nice. The service is great. The breakfast is super good, as is the dinner. The family room is big enough. Likewise the sanitary facilities in the separate rooms. But unfortunately a star deduction for the room because there was dust on the lamps. Which is actually not appropriate. The boys' hostel is well located so that everything can be easily reached nearby. There are many interesting excursion destinations here. And there are also free charging stations nearby so you can charge your electric car. Two at the kart track and one at a holiday apartment at Astenweg 11. We liked it so much that we will use this house again. If we want to go on holiday in Winterberg.

Cozy youth hostel with spacious rooms and delicious food!We were at the Winterberg youth hostel this weekend with a larger group with many small children and were completely satisfied.Very nice staff, a great playroom for children between 0-6 years old with building blocks and lots of toys for creative building, large, clean rooms with a diaper bin, a baby bed in very good condition and two relatively new playgrounds behind the house.I would particularly like to highlight the food! Both breakfast and dinner are of a very high quality (e.g. very tasty seasoned chicken thighs, rosemary potatoes and cauliflower; also a very tasty salad buffet). There isn't a huge selection, but everything on offer is very tasty, fresh and seasoned. Better than some hotels. The breakfast is also very tasty - we particularly enjoyed the (homemade?) tomato paste, the dill-herb quark and the house-made strawberry jam.In the evening you can drink a beer/wine or non-alcoholic drinks in the rustic bar (wooden paneled and very cozy) while the children sleep. Our 5 family rooms were in a side wing, so it was very quiet at night and we didn't hear anything from the school classes. We were completely satisfied and can highly recommend this youth hostel for families with small children.

Great, modern and very tastefully decorated youth hostel. Food and service are at a high level. Ideally located for nature activities. Not far from the ski slopes. Absolute recommendation.

We had a great stay as a family and will definitely come back again. The atmosphere was very familiar and personal. Room absolutely sufficient. The food was also great. We particularly liked the salad bar at dinner. Our children felt very comfortable in the playroom and on the outdoor playground. It was easy to take the bus to Berg Kappe and into town. Price-performance ratio top!!!

**Disappointing stay at the DJH Youth Hostel Winterberg**Our 10th grade class spent three days (two nights) in the DJH Youth Hostel Winterberg, and unfortunately our stay was anything but satisfactory. We had booked the “survival package”, which turned out to be completely unsuitable for our age. On the first day we were only offered get-to-know-you games that were not very appealing to students our age. The only bright spot was the friendly and open supervisor of this program. The room windows could only be fully opened with a special key upon prior request, which was extremely inconvenient. The reception staff and hosts were consistently unfriendly, unhelpful and overly strict. Any attempts to interact with them humorously were immediately blocked. Our planning freedom was severely limited as we were only allowed to leave the building between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., which made it difficult for us to organize our activities flexibly.Another big problem was the food, which was barely edible and completely tasteless. Many of us had stomach pains as a result. A small ray of hope was the friendly staff in the dining area.Overall, our stay at the DJH Youth Hostel Winterberg was very disappointing and frustrating. A revision of the program and an improvement of the service are urgently needed.Unfortunately I cannot recommend this accommodation.

We spent our mother-child weekend in the Winterberg youth hostel. It was very nice. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was good and the staff, whether in the dining room or at the reception, were very nice. We'll be back.
