Great house, great team, great food.I can really recommend this hostel. Now for the details when it comes to the food, the chef really tries to make everything possible. The food itself is a great selection. The older lady at the reception was also super helpful and had a very friendly welcome. The rooms were ok, the windows were a little old but I didn't think it was a problem.

Despite the mostly negative response, I was there for an overnight stay with my wife and our three children. The staff was always in a good mood and very motivated to answer questions. I found it very nice that everything was shown to us personally, even though it had been explained well to us beforehand. The staff is super friendly. The kitchen and dishes were clean, the food was great, and there was even something warm to eat in the evening. The breakfast was very well prepared. I've seen breakfasts in some hotels that aren't as great as here.Cleanliness of the dining room, a bit of personal responsibility is required here, there were buckets with clean water and cloths ready to wipe down the tables after use. That's why we're in a youth hostel and not a hotel. I personally thought that was very good. If something was missing from the breakfast, the staff was visibly nearby to fix it.In a positive sense, the rooms are an adventure for people big and small. Personally, at two meters tall, I felt a bit like I was in the hobbits, but that doesn't bother me at all.The rooms, toilets and showers were clean. As already described, we are in a youth hostel and not in a luxury hotel, so if you have to do mimimimi here, you should stay at home with mom. For ourselves and even our children, we said we would definitely come back. Stay the way you are.

The employees are very friendly.Even though I was at the buffet too early in the morning, I was able to get a coffee. I thought that was great. There were vegan alternatives at dinner. Unfortunately, the food had the character of a canteen and was largely tasteless. The breakfast offering was very clear. Unfortunately the jam was with gelatin. Our room was clean but very shabby. I wouldn't have wanted to sleep there longer than one night. There was also no way to sit down comfortably. There were only two chairs in the room and a table. Lounging was only possible on the bed. Since there were double bunk beds, it was a bit cramped. The toilet and shower were in the hallway. That was ok because there wasn't a lot going on in our hallway.

Unfortunately our stay at this hostel was disappointing. The rooms were quite dirty and the beds had visible stains, which made us very uncomfortable. The group showers, which offered no privacy whatsoever, were particularly annoying. The food was also a problem - a lot of it was undercooked and it even gave me diarrhea. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again.

5th grade school trip. Rooms not cleaned, used bed linen in unmade beds, in a girl's room the previous woman's used underwear was in the bed, bathrooms dirty, toilets dirty including piles of shit in the bowl, "disco" took place in a room that smelled of toilet, pre-ordered Vegetarian food was completely ignored.

The location gets five stars from me because the youth hostel is in the middle of the Harz Mountains and is relatively remote. Was ideal for me.

The room was disgusting. Dirty, dusty and greasy. There were spiders everywhere. It feels like there hasn't been any cleaning here for years. There were so many cobwebs between the bed and the wall that you couldn't even see through them. The floor was stuck and there were stains everywhere, on the walls, on the floor, on the ceiling.Thank God we were just passing through. We felt so uncomfortable and dirty that we left at 6 a.m. the next morning. We skipped the breakfast that we actually paid for.The other reviews also show exactly these problems. You get nice answers here, but no one cares.I will cancel my DJH membership. How you can let people sleep in such greasy rooms... bah... and all that for a whopping 99 euros for one night.

OK for sleeping. Typical youth hostel as you know it from school trips. The staff cares about the guests ❤, unfortunately different employees have different statements on the same topic, so the prices vary, services are available or not. Each employee tries very hard, but talks badly about the performance of the other colleague and straightens out what the other colleague missed. For us as guests, the stay was a bit bumpy and not as smooth as it could have been.Great food, big compliments to the chef

I was there with my school and I have to say that the location and the property are very nice.If you like hiking, you're in good hands there. The shared showers (bathroom) were in impossible conditions (see pictures from June 23). Every time I feel disgusted about showering there, which may be partly due to the *usually* non-openable windows. This also made it difficult to hang up wet clothes. The food was mediocre (which is what I was used to in a youth hostel).Rooms were basic, with a small lamp above the bed (which didn't work for us)
