The inn is just a few minutes' walk from Schönau (Hörsel) train station and is an ideal starting point and destination for hikes in and through the Hörselberge. The inn is rustic and the operators are very friendly. After a hike we had a drink here and then drove home. Gladly again at any time.

Our son was passing through here on a larger bike tour through Europe. Since he arrived late in the evening, entry was organized by the landlady, Ms. Schnorr. So dear! The room must have been spotlessly clean, our son really enjoyed it. The breakfast was plentiful and lovingly prepared, even with our own jams, jellies and the desired gluten-free bread. So he was able to continue his journey strengthened and on time. He just missed the delicious organic beef from the kitchen in the evening. He'll definitely make up for it on the next tour.Many thanks to the innkeepers and employees for so much hospitality!

We felt quite comfortable. We lived in the apartment with 3 adults and 2 children. Staff very nice but the rooms and apartments could use some investment. Cleanliness ok. Due to the close train route, the noise takes some getting used to. Breakfast was 👍 good. Large party venue available for larger celebrations. Then you won't hear the trains as much...

We held our family reunion at this restaurant and unfortunately our experience was not positive. The food was poor value for money. The quality of the food left a lot to be desired and was disproportionate to the prices charged.The landlady was disappointing and turned out to be unfriendly. Their behavior significantly marred the overall experience. In contrast, however, the waiters were very friendly and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Their service was attentive and courteous, which at least lightened the impression somewhat.Overall, I unfortunately can't recommend this restaurant because of the food, even if the friendly staff was a small bright spot.

Such a rude boss is a bit underground. Every restaurant fights for guests. Food was very expensive, sometimes the portions were not justified for the price. The surroundings are really beautiful, but that's it

Location really great, quiet in the countryside.Beer came quickly, food was grottoes bad.Larger group had 3 dishes to choose from and then messed up the whole meal.As a trained chef you can only shake your head...

The Zapfengrund restaurant is well located in the landscape. A path leads past and connects several places with each other. There is a paddock in front of the restaurant.There is a parking space and there is enough space for around 8-10 cars.Unfortunately, the restaurant has deteriorated greatly in terms of food and service. They are only well organized for major events...and the service is very quick.Otherwise, the dishes on the menu have been available and offered for ages.Unfortunately, in the meantime they have become very bland in taste and lack ideas. I wish everything could be revised.🙏

This restaurant was recommended to us by word of mouth and we were not disappointed. You immediately felt very welcome here. The reception was very friendly, the food was served quickly. My mother didn't manage to do everything and when we asked if they could pack the rest for us, this was done immediately. The apprentice was also very friendly. All in all highly recommended!!!

A very nice rustic restaurant with good Thuringian cuisine.The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious.The prices are normal for today,Except for the steak with seasoned meat I thought it was slightly overpriced, but it was delicious.My mother-in-law had the Thuringian Mutzbraten, which also tasted good.The restaurant is a bit off the main road and a bit difficult to find for new visitors.We would be happy to come back and look forward to our next visit.
