Unfortunately, we were lured by the pictures on the internet.The first room didn't work at all, it smelled musty, supposedly the disinfectant, the bed linen was totally damp, the sand from the last guest was everywhere and let's not even mention the window, it was totally filthy and dirty.The balcony didn't make it any better, the view over the adjacent campsite took some getting used to and is not mentioned in any description.The balcony was also dirty, even the ashtray from the last guest was still dirty. As non-smokers, this obviously bothered us.After complaining to the reception, we were offered another room, it was rented as a deluxe room, well, at least it didn't smell musty.The furniture is totally worn out and absolutely not up to date for a 4 star hotel.When it comes to breakfast you can say it was simply fantastic. We were really very positively surprised because we didn't expect that. There were different types of bread and rolls, cheese, sausage, everything was great.We really had the feeling that we were in another hotel for breakfast, as the decor is really nice and people enjoy having breakfast there.As mentioned above, we were looking forward to the hotel and left with great disappointment.

We stayed there for 3 nights in October.The area is very beautiful and the hotel is not far from the sea. We could even see the sea from our room.However, that was all that was great. The room was quite small (well, not that bad), the bed was an absolute disaster, the windows were totally dirty and some of them couldn't be opened, the paint was chipping.The minibar consisted of 2 cups with 2 tea bags, a kettle that still had the water from our predecessor.The wardrobe is quite old and there is a big hole in the bottom area.The bathroom had probably already been renovated once, but the shower head was very calcified so that the water sprayed in all directions and you couldn't shower properly.The room wasn't cleaned during our stay, there weren't any new towels and the trash can wasn't emptied either. The only thing that was done was the shower. Nothing else would get done.Parking is a big problem in this hotel. When we arrived a very nice gentleman asked us where we had parked. He wrote down the number and said that this parking space would now be ours for €10 a day. Unfortunately we couldn't use it because there were always others parking there who weren't registered. Of course we refused to pay this money. But that wasn't a problem.There was also a swimming pool that could be used at certain times. However, I can't write anything about this because we weren't there. We found the hotel generally very dirty and therefore we had no interest in going in there.The breakfast was very simple, but OK(but no breakfast for a 4 star hotel)We will not visit this hotel again and cannot recommend it.

Really great family hotel with a few hundred meters walk to the beach. We received a friendly welcome, there was a parking space for a fee and the room was huge and clean. Unfortunately a star deducted because we had the room right at the beginning and there was a bar in the hotel entrance where smoking was allowed. Apparently the door was left open in the evening and all the smoke came into our room. As a non-smoker, that was really disgusting.The breakfast was absolutely rich and really tasty. I haven't had such a good breakfast in a long time.We would definitely come back in another room.

⚠️⚠️Absolutely not recommended the hotel "" left a day earlier than booked I went to reception a young man says no problem ask will the one night be refunded the young man says I have to consult with the hotel manager okay I have approx Waited 15 minutes, there were no problems, it was transferred in, okay, a photocopy was made of my debit card and I was promised that the night would be refunded in intervals of 7 and 10 days. I called them and the money had not been refunded until today a month has passed nothing happened 🤬 Called again today where the money is left I feel like a beggar 🤬 This time I had the hotel manager "" on the phone and I was told no money won't be returned 😳Watt that's fraud I say give it I once had a young man on the phone with whom I had already spoken on the phone four times and kept saying that the money was coming and would be transferred. Today the young man suddenly said that the hotel manager had said on the day of departure in the morning that the money would not be refunded what a lie now, I didn't leave in the morning but between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and I neither spoke nor saw the woman, so I must really have something with my eyes and I didn't recognize that it was a young man So what's going on in the hotel is really intense, if you can even call it a hotel, what's going on there, the 4 stars are definitely in 1960 and the rooms are a complete disaster. You heard it from the others on the balcony So I now understand why the guests only stayed there for one night. Never again. Ps. My lawyer has been informed

An outdated hotel, wallpaper hanging from the wall. The bathroom is an impertinence!!!The fitting on the washbasin is just as loose as the shower rail. Shower hose leaks! Breakfast is good. We were there for the first and last time!!!

We were there at the end of May, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.While the staff is struggling, the lady sits at the information desk and makes private calls or plays with her cell phone; she doesn't care much about the guests standing at the information desk.The minibar consists of tea bags and water. The outdated swimming pool wouldn't be so bad if it were clean.We booked through a travel agency, the lady said we don't do that, you have to pay here, I can't find anything on the computer (which luckily has been clarified)

Hotel Wernerwald - ReviewThe hotel describes itself as a wellness hotel and that is why we divide the rating into two areas. Hotel and wellness area.Hotel locationThe hotel is located in Sahlenburg, a district of Cuxhaven, near the coast and right next to a large forest area. It can be reached from Herford in just 3 hours.Grade: B plusHotel - roomsWe had an apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a small bathroom, a spacious living room and a balcony. Everything was a bit old and a bit stuffy at the beginning, but it was good to live there.Grade: BHotel - parking lotA parking space directly at the hotel could be booked for 10 euros per night. This was sufficient.Grade: one minusHotel - breakfastThe breakfast was tasty and sufficient. The selection was large and, in addition to the standards, also included coffee specialties, pancakes and even fish. Unfortunately there was no latte macchiato and no orange juice on Sunday. Breakfast costs extra: 12.50 euros per personGrade: two minusHotel-restaurantUnfortunately we cannot judge the restaurant. The plan was for us to eat there on our last evening. After all, it was our 17th wedding anniversary and we wanted to celebrate it properly. To be on the safe side, I had already reserved a table there two months in advance because I wanted to design the table a little beforehand. I had already made contact with a flower shop.Unfortunately, when we arrived we found out that the restaurant wasn't open that evening because there was a wedding there. Our written confirmation of the reservation was of no use to us and we were very disappointed.Note: Not possibleWellness areaThis area is advertised on the website with a swimming pool, outdoor sauna, red light sauna, massage, imperial bath and relaxation area. The massage area has been under renovation for at least a year and this is also noted on the hotel's website.The swimming pool is 15 meters by 4 meters in size, which is completely sufficient. There is a sauna outside that can accommodate around 20 people and is therefore sufficient.But that was it. The red light sauna is out of service, a small outdoor pool for cooling down is dirty and without water, as is a whirlpool. We didn't find the relaxation area either.In order to use the sauna, you should give an hour's notice so that it can be switched on. We did this in the morning right after breakfast and announced ourselves for 2 p.m. But when we arrived at the sauna shortly after 2 p.m., it was still switched off. You simply forgot about it. This was switched on straight away, but it took almost 90 minutes until it reached a temperature of just 80 degrees. On the second day it worked. The sauna was heated up at the agreed time, although only at 80 degrees.And by the way, you had to book a sauna package (bathrobe and towel) for 15 euros per person.Grade: poorConclusionThe hotel is getting a little old and sometimes seems unkempt. It definitely lacks the charm to feel really comfortable there. And the lack of a wellness area, which unfortunately wasn't communicated in advance, doesn't make the whole thing any better. On the contrary.We definitely wouldn't vacation here again at the moment because the wellness area is a high priority for us.

We stayed at the Hotel Wernerwald for four nights. The room was nicely furnished, clean and spacious. The staff on site was very friendly and accommodating. The food was freshly prepared and tasted fabulous. We had our large dog with us and I can only recommend this hotel for dog owners. We felt welcome. We'll definitely be back.

We were looking for a location for our wedding. Since nothing appealed to us in our hometown, it only took a few minutes of our first conversation with the owner that we decided on the Hotel Wernerwald.It was familiar/friendly and at the same time very professional. During several appointments, everything was thought of and discussed.We had the wedding ceremony on the hotel terrace. This was previously polished to a high shine.Everything previously discussed was implemented very well. Everything worked out.The food was praised by all guests in terms of taste and selection.The service staff were always friendly and eager to make all guests happy.We would like to thank you again for this day!

My wife was there last month. She liked it so much that we went back for four days.A very welcoming, cozy and familiar little hotel. It is well maintained, clean and absolutely dog friendly.Because the room my wife wanted was occupied, we simply booked so that we first had room 17 and then room 21.Both rooms were very nice.There is also a pool and sauna, but we didn't use it because we were out all day.The breakfast was very, very good. Everything was fresh and the selection of toppings and spreads etc. was more than satisfactory.The in-house restaurant is also highly recommended. My wife had the pollack, which she said was perfect. (She is very meticulous ^^)My Holtsteiner style schnitzel plate was also really, really good. We were very full and happy.The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is how vacation is fun =)We would be happy to come back as soon as we have the opportunity.I would also like to point out that I noticed a few reviews here before I booked. I can't understand that at all.1: you have the opportunity to find out about the hotel in advance so that you know whether it has an elevator or not.2: the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.I can't understand why there are people who see it differently.I'm just saying. As you call into the forest, it echoes out. The lovely people who work there are not slaves who have to react to a whistle or something similar. Neither would you.No matter where the problem is, if you are friendly, you will always get help! Beautiful hotel close to the beach and dog-friendly.Very nice staff who are happy to help with any questions.Just a great relaxing stay last month and this month.There are trash cans for dog waste right at the hotel (read previous reviews) and there are always fresh treats at the breakfast buffet that are always refilled.Dinner is plentiful and worthwhile.The rooms are spacious and individually furnished. The internet is free.We look forward to our next stay at your hotel.

The Hotel Wernerwald is long past its best days and should be renovated in a contemporary manner. The furnishings in our room were worn out and no longer meet today's standards. In front of our room, the air conditioning ran all night long with a very high level of noise - when we raised the problem at reception they only shrugged their shoulders. We were deliberately directed to a parking lot away from the hotel, even though there were spaces available behind the house.The room service (cleaning) was very friendly. The restaurant specialist at the breakfast buffet was rather bad-tempered and didactic.A great plus point is the dog-friendliness and the proximity to the forest and the beach with a dog playground.
