We booked a chalet at this campsite.The size of the chalet was absolutely fine (2 adults, 2 children). Facilities were great and everything was in very good condition and clean. Only the pillows were far too thin and didn't give us a very restful sleep.The place is very beautiful. There was a lot to discover, especially for the children. The kids especially had a lot of fun searching for gemstones in the morning. We didn't use the swimming pond in October, but the pond and the stream are certainly a highlight in the summer. You can hear the adjacent main road on the site, but it didn't bother us in the chalet.There are a few nice places to visit with children in the area. The nature is great and you can go on many hikes.The square also has a restaurant. We evaluate this separately. But it was a nice addition to dinner in the evening.The operators of the place were very friendly and helpful. We felt well looked after and welcome.It would be nice if you could also pay by card. However, this does not seem to be standard across the region. Unfortunately we needed a lot of cash.

We had a great stay at the Harfenmühle campsite, and it is highly recommended, especially for families with children! Every day at 10:15 a.m. there is a gem hunt in the river, which was a real highlight for the little ones. The fact that the stones were thrown into the water beforehand didn't dampen the joy at all - on the contrary, everyone had a lot of fun looking for them.The space is spacious and offers everything you need as a camper. The operators and staff are super friendly and always helpful, really great! Card payments now also work smoothly, which is very practical. The washhouses were always clean and well maintained.The only point of criticism was the WiFi, which was unfortunately not available at the beginning and wasn't particularly stable later on either. The operator could make improvements here so that it works well throughout the site - I expect that to be standard for such a well-equipped campsite. When choosing a seat, you should also make sure that you are not too close to the main road, as you can hear it from time to time. However, it is limited.Overall, a wonderful campsite that we would like to visit again!

Very nice campsite, bread service great, great things in the small market, great regionally. WiFi at the campsite. We'd love to come back. Parents with children and dog owners feel at home here.

Very idyllic location of the campsite in the middle of the forest and far away from disturbing noises. Ideal for families with children!! Also for hiking, cycling. Great natural swimming lake. It is advisable to take enough food with you and have the option to do some small shopping. Bread roll service possible via QR code, food in the restaurant takes some getting used to (except for fried potatoes) ( :-(( ) and by no means cheap. The price for dogs and electricity is also beyond my comprehension, but is probably rampant everywhere - campers just pay! ?!?

Beautiful campsite, especially just after the season. Quiet yet busy. Very nice staff and everything goes smoothly. The route to the campsite is also beautiful to drive from both sides. Recommended!

So we spent a week here with our caravan at the beginning of September. There is nothing negative to say. The showers and toilets were very clean. There is really good warm water. We felt very comfortable here. Gladly again and again 😊

Nice nice campsite, basic but clean sanitary facilities, showers included and good. Perfect campsite for children. Very nice that they can look for stones every morning. For people without children it can sometimes be a bit busy, especially if you are facing a group of friends who let their children run around until 12 o'clock at night ;-). The swimming pond is nice but only 1 meter deep. Again great for children. The surroundings are beautiful. The campsite is located on a main road. You can hear the road at the top spots, but not at the bottom spots. All in all a nice place. Definitely recommended.

Advantages: Quiet location and short distances to shopping and excursion destinations. Morning gem hunting for the children, as well as the swimming pond. Clean sanitary facilities and free showers. Large children's shower that fits a family with 2 children. Friendly hosts.Disadvantages: Quite narrow streets, with a large caravan you need to be careful, but not impossible. Gravel paths sometimes made it unfortunate, as rainwater runs under the awning on some pitches.As a family with 3 children and a dog, we really liked the Harfenmühle campsite because there were enough opportunities to go for a walk with the dog or go on hiking trips. Every morning the children were able to go hunting for gemstones in a stream. With patience and time you could also find great stones there. Idar-Oberstein is less than 30 minutes' drive away and it's just under an hour's drive to Trier.The sanitary facilities are clean. The showers are free and the children's shower offers plenty of space. A dog shower is also available. The place is clear and therefore quiet, only the adjacent country road causes a bit of noise here and there, but it really doesn't matter much.In terms of location, you are in the low mountain range and have a great view of the forests that frame the campsite.All in all, it's a nice family campsite with nice hosts. We also found it good value for money.

Gemstone country, nice hospitable campsite with a water to look for gemstones and some caves and walking areas nearby. Quite far from shops, etc. There is a nice restaurant and beer garden on the campsite with good snacks!

Visited this campsite for the 2nd time with teenagers. The camping pitches are spacious and level. Very friendly family that runs the campsite. Clean sanitary facilities and excellent restaurant.Lots to do in the area that you have to drive for. Definitely worth it.

We have been here with the tent for almost 2 weeks with young children who cannot yet swim independently. The stream and swimming pond were fantastically designed for this purpose and the children could play great and look for gemstones and play in the water all day long. In the morning when the gemstones are scattered it is quite busy and the older children have some advantage, but the campsite owner responds to this by also sprinkling something for the babies when the older children are busy with the large pieces.The sanitary facilities were very good and clean.The campsite restaurant is very good. The camping shop is good and affordable. Only the bread and buns/croissants are a bit expensive (but very tasty). The latter applies to all bakeries and supermarkets in the area.Most camping guests were neat and kept their dogs on a leash and handled their open fire and BBQs with care, so there was little smoke nuisance.The environment is fantastic and very child-friendly.
