We like this hotel very much and have been there several times. The hosts are super nice, very attentive and very concerned about the well-being of the guests. The rooms are of impeccable quality and the furnishing style matches the location and the hotel. The breakfast is very varied, fresh and tasty, and has things for every taste. It's easy to get to the national park from the hotel. Simply a brilliant hotel - thank you and we'll be back!

Rooms are a bit old, carpeted floors, mattress hard as rock. Staircase upstairs is very steep and narrow. Breakfast is like this. Rolls are like rubber and the hard boiled eggs were like tennis balls. We wouldn't stay here again.

Ostrau is a bit winding - so the guesthouse is not that easy to get to by car. Welcome was nice and friendly. The WiFi password was given when checking in. The rooms are cozy and very clean. Fortunately, the beds are not so uncomfortably soft. The breakfast buffet was sufficiently varied. Sausage and cheese were delicious. Dirty hiking boots and/or possibly damp hiking jackets can be stored or hung up in the boiler room on the ground floor. Slippers are available there. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely check in there again.

Unfortunately I can't recommend a stay...that's my opinion! The rooms in the attic are very noisy and a bit overcrowded with furniture that no one needs and that makes the rooms seem small....unfortunately you can hear every step etc from the neighboring room and the very noisy stairs...the advertised breakfast was ok but Definitely not rich and there were a few signs missing what that was like....we found the owners to be very nice and even though there are a lot of letters from the owner's mother here, it is his wife and yes she should still be nice, she is no longer working in service It's because she seems very confused and also very forward.... We won't go there anymore for the time being, but we really like it and have been in Ostrau several times for 12 years and will continue to do so, but in traditional accommodation

The rooms are very clean and you can sleep peacefully after a long day. Unfortunately, after a long hike, if you arrive a little later (7 p.m.), there isn't even a salad to eat or you aren't offered anything. (The kitchen closes) and after 20 km you don't want to start looking for another option in town (no precise information from the landlord as to where you can get something, or lack of knowledge about other restaurants' closing days). The information that there are vending machines with fresh bread, sausages and sweets at the bus stop 3 minutes away would have made me the happiest person that day (including organic products, by the way). You could still get cold drinks from the bottle. Breakfast was again very tasty. You had a bit of a feeling of being a nuisance, although that apparently only applied to "one-nighters". All in all it was ok, but definitely not a second time for me.

I found it very nice in the guesthouse, the room was nice, the breakfast was great. And after I only realized at the guesthouse that I had lost my EC card that day, I was able to pay my bill directly on the spot by bank transfer and showing the transfer receipt. I found this to be very accommodating and thank you for your trust.

Wonderful family-friendly guesthouse. We felt right at home here. Rooms were very clean. The breakfast was a blast. Homemade meat and egg salads, delicious muesli variations and a good coffee machine. We didn't lack anything. If you want a quiet hiking holiday with a great view of the Schrammsteine, this is the right place for you.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with other reviews that the owner of the guesthouse stands out because of his exceptional unfriendliness and is therefore a bit of a "worm" after a long day of hiking. In addition, all hikers who make a late detour to Bad Schandau before stopping off should be informed that the guesthouse is located "upstairs" and not in Bad Schandau. You can use the elevator (2.20€ or reduced price 1.40€ each way) to cover part of the route, but after that it's another 20-minute walk uphill, which can be very unpleasant after a stage of the Malerweg (if necessary, take the bus ). The room was otherwise impeccable, clean and spacious and the breakfast, even though it won't be served until 8.15 a.m. at the end of July 2022 (probably a lack of staff), is sufficient, healthy and there are really no deficiencies. Strange comments from the owner and his mother ruin the experience, I would recommend another guesthouse.

We have been guests here several times, sometimes as a couple and sometimes as a hiking group. We have always found the operators to be friendly and helpful. The breakfast was always super tasty, sufficient and organic quality. Some of the rooms are a bit small, so there are problems with storing luggage. You can have dinner wonderfully next door at the Ostrauer Hof, but you can't come too late otherwise it will be difficult to get a seat.

The house itself is nice, although two bathrooms divided into a toilet and a shower are a bit inconvenient. Unfortunately, the lady at the reception is hard of hearing and has a problem. We had made a reservation, which she initially denied. The name was not understood even after repeated announcements. We couldn't ask for the WiFi password because no one answered the bell. It would also be an option to simply store the password in the folder in the room - no one is needed on site for this. The breakfast was lovingly prepared, but unfortunately without labels. We couldn't ask because of the hearing barrier. It would be a nice place to stay if the receptionist would devote herself to other tasks than listening.

A very unfriendly reception. We had the feeling that we were not welcome as stage hikers, regular guests were warmly welcomed. Breakfast sufficient, the rooms clean and sufficient. Dinner next door is only possible until 7 p.m., a restriction for hikers with long stages.

I have been visiting the family-run organic guesthouse for several years now. Initially only over the weekend, because many wonderful hiking trails are easy to reach from here. You can also enjoy the sunrise and sunset from the Ostrauer Höhe. Finally I stayed for a whole week. As always, I felt very comfortable with the hosts. I find the breakfast to be high quality, regional and simply delicious. I would be happy to come back.
