Great campsite, very large. There is almost no parking space at the reception if you arrive with your camper. Furthermore, very friendly staff and nice sanitary facilities.

The place is very noisy at times, the owner is moody but also fair. Clean toilets, showers. It gets more expensive every year.

There were four of us on the tent meadow. The space is generous, with four tents we had great space and were able to make ourselves comfortable around the fire pit. Located in the valley directly on the Rur, the surroundings are truly wonderful. Unfortunately, the train passes very close to the campsite and has to honk for a level crossing.Shops are 5 minutes away by car.The sanitary facilities were clean.We would love to camp there again.

We stayed five nights in one of the three smaller Mobilheime (no. 9) on the back field of the campsite. The larger Mobilheime are at the front, close to the entrance and between the permanent pitches. Because the house is located on a camping meadow, you have all the peace and space out of season. After all, there are no campers then. The house is fantastic! To start with, the outside looks very nice (beautiful red painted wood) and it has a spacious, covered veranda with table and chairs. Inside it is cozy and furnished with care and thoroughness, everything is beautifully finished. The house is really very small, cooking, eating and sleeping all happen in the same room. There is a folding dining table with four chairs, but there is no room for a sofa. But we didn't think that was a problem, because you can also make it very comfortable for yourself in bed (e.g. bring some extra pillows). The kitchenette is amply equipped with all the things you need for cooking and eating. The beds (two doubles on top of each other) are spacious and comfortable (bring your own blankets and bed linen), the roller blinds provide good blackout effect. There is air conditioning, underfloor heating (!!!) and also a small oil heater. Shower and toilet are stylishly furnished.For the rest, I agree with everything that has been said positively about the environment, location of the campsite, etc.

If you expect friendliness, you're wrong here... the operators are totally narrow-minded and very unfriendly. Like in the old days, barriers open by hand... and you are only forced to drive out when there is no break. Other places have other systems... Cleanliness is ok... This is the third time we've been here despite the very, very unfriendly treatment... we shit on people like that... why we go here, the great location and what's much more important... the Operator v bistro. Detlef and his wife are so great. How to sweeten your morning. With breakfast and whoever wants a great dinner.. thank you..

The campsite itself has its charm when it comes to the surroundings, but the friendliness leaves a lot to be desired. We were shouted at through the window asking if we weren't able to read the registration and why we wouldn't show it without being asked. Of course, that's exactly how you attract customers! We will hardly consider another visit...

We had great experiences with the tent meadow and mobile home number 3 within 2 weeks.We were there for 2 days each and can only recommend this place. The reception and supply work perfectly.Plumbing is in top condition!But the highlight is the bistro with Detlef and his great wife Lydia. Both are passionate about it and know how to bring people together.They take time for everyone and provide everyone with a really great meal.A big compliment :-)We'd love to come back.

Ideal as a base camp for an extensive canoe tour. Only the train is annoying at night with its warning signal 😂. But that was the only negative thing.

Reception was very friendly and helpful, we camp there almost every year. The problem was drinking water, there was no drinking water at the small replacement meadow, we had to walk a bit to get water. But it's not a problem either. Otherwise it is a very nice area, clean with beautiful views. Gladly again!

Top bistro "Zur Last Hope" (more on that later), great campsite with a good location, especially if you camp further back. You even have the option of pitching your tents directly on the river bank and theoretically you can reach Heimbach within walking distance. At the back of the square you have access to a very well-kept, modern and spacious wash house and right next to it is the centerpiece, the bistro "Zur Last Hope". The hosts Lydia and Detlef are very accommodating and put their hearts into the kitchen. Definitely eat there 👍 The recommendation is clearly the variations of Lydia's favorite schnitzel

The place is very nicely located. We found a quiet place right on the Rur, in the meadow.Sanitary facilities are clean. Shopping in town or the most necessary items in the kiosk on the square. I particularly liked the bistro. Led by Lydia and Detlef. The couple is very friendly and helpful. Thanks again for your help. I can only recommend homemade fresh rolls and a very tasty Jägerschnitzel (homemade hunter's sauce). What I also really liked was the offer to rent a backpack with an inflatable kayak, go hiking and paddle the Rur back to the campsite. I'd love to come back.

Very nicely located and with good infrastructure. Unfortunately the kiosk is no longer open every day because no staff can be found. Therefore we didn't have fresh rolls every day.There was a great campsite right on the water.We'll be back.

Beautiful place in Heimbach. This campsite is enormous in size, but approximately 50% are regular campers. The field for passers-by is large: never before had a campsite with such large pitches.The river is beautiful: gives charm and also coolness during the day and at night (!!), especially when it is so hot.The showers and sanitary facilities are older, but in excellent condition: lovely hot water (paid) for the shower.Right next to the toilet building on the passers-by site, there is also a kind of snack bar where you can eat and drink!Highly recommended!A visit to Heimbach is fun, and there are also nice restaurants and places there. Explore your surroundings for a longer period of time in preparation for what you like or don't like.There is a diesel train running near the campsite, which whistles when it makes the bend. This whistle sounds like a steam train whistle and gives an extra special feeling of romance. You will be shocked the first time!

Heimbacher Campingplatz is a nice campsite with spacious pitches with a large area in the shade, sun or on the Rur. There is generally a very quiet atmosphere because it should get quieter around 9:00 PM, unfortunately we were unlucky to have very loud neighbors who continued until 2:00 AM. The staff is quite friendly. There is a track running past the campsite, the trains that run on this route have to honk their horns through a railway crossing without barriers, this continues until it is dark and starts when the sun is up.There is a point for the campers to discharge the sanitary facilities, a point for washing dishes even with a dishwasher. The sanitary facilities are clean and are cleaned every morning.From Wednesday to Sunday food is offered at the Kiosk, but you are about a half-hour walk from Heimbach where there is an Edeka for shopping.

A spacious campsite that consists of 90% permanent accommodation. Once you drive all the way to the end, you will come across a very large lawn with places along the edge of the forest and along the river. Along the forest edge you have from 2.30 pm shade. On the river side you are in the sun almost all day. The sanitary facilities are clean and the showers are nice. Sufficient sinks and 4 showers per block (ladies/men). The men's showers work as follows. After inserting a coin and pressing the button, the water stops after about 45 seconds. You can press the button again 4 more times. This is not stated anywhere and you are not told. And that is what this campsite costs stars. What lousy service. No information sheet or map, no explanation about anything. Just take a picture of the rules! Yes, rules. You cannot enter or leave the campsite between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM (even though they can set the railway barrier to open automatically). The sturdy guy on the scooter drives around like a police officer and feels like the man. The guy from reception calmly arrives at 3:10 PM. He speaks reasonable English. There are 2 washing machines and a dryer on the campsite, this is not mentioned anywhere (door between the ladies' and men's room). The restaurant offers take-away service (order in advance), they are available on Mondays and Tuesdays You can also have breakfast and lunch here. There is no camping shop within a 5-minute drive!
