I emailed in August 2024 asking if the hotel would be open on New Year's Eve (as it was now closed), yes it would be open and there would certainly be a nice New Year's Eve celebration. We booked and paid in confidence. Less than 2 weeks ago we received an email that they had canceled it, the hotel would not be ready. The down payment would be refunded sometime next month, if I did not agree with this, I emailed to receive the amount back as soon as possible. (They complied with this) However, we were completely astonished when we went to Winterberg yesterday and took a look at the hotel. 1 large ruin, everything bare on the inside and resting on supporting poles. A small child can tell you that this hotel will not open for a while. Why did it take so long to inform us? Everything that is fun to do on New Year's Eve is now fully booked in Winterberg and Willingen, but also in the Netherlands. It's sad that they treat their customers this way, especially during these holidays.Unfortunately I can't post a photo here, but you would be shocked and amazed. We are disappointed and angry

Despite the renovation of this beautiful old building, a stay is definitely recommended. The service, rooms and interior space were great and we enjoyed it. Location right in the center is nice. Just outside the zone of all the noise but a stone's throw away to enjoy the atmosphere. The area is fantastic for walking and cycling. All inclusive concept very nice and easy.

Even though the hotel is undergoing renovations (1750), the staff does EVERYTHING they can to make your stay a success. Friendliness is definitely an asset and so is helpfulness, you can contact them with almost any questions. The room we had was at the front of the hotel and was spacious, new and beautifully decorated, as were the sanitary facilities. There is still some work to be done, but the hotel is definitely worth a visit and be surprised with what solutions the staff can come up with.

We were with family (13 people) at the Kiepenkerl hotel for the Easter weekend. We had it all in concept. The food was tasty and varied. They often asked if you wanted something to drink. The staff (Dutch girls) were wonderfully hospitable. Really nice girls! You get the Sauerland summer card with your stay, where you can do many fun free excursions, we made a lot of use of it: panoramic bridge, bowling, go-karting, mini golf, toboggan run, Mountain kart.

Spent 3 nights at this hotel last weekend. All inclusive concept. Where we arrived at 2 p.m. to check in, which was possible according to the email from 3 days before, but a note on the door said 3 p.m. So closed door. And wait an hour. The hotel is still undergoing renovation. We had a new room that was attractively decorated with good beds. It's a pity that with all good intentions it is generally just not in the room. Carpet is no longer neat, green paint on the white parts, hole next to the bed to the neighbors (although this room was closed due to the renovation). The toilet roll holder sits neatly against the wall on one side, but on the other side you can clearly see the green plug, the edges around the light switch have crumbled. It's a shame that when you start a renovation it is not delivered neatly or properly.During the tour, attention was clearly paid to the drinks refrigerator at the bottom of the stairs. Especially for when the bar is closed, it would be filled and if we were thirsty we could grab something and request that we write it down on a special form intended for that purpose. You can also come there for coffee or a cup of hot water for tea. Unfortunately, the refrigerator was not stocked and there was no form. The used cups and tea bags also remained there during the weekend. The breakfast was fine. Everything in abundance and sufficient choice.Dinner was only okay. What I thought was a shame is that sauces and soups come straight from packets. While packets are by definition not always cheaper than fresh. And what if you do use a pack? Then do something with it. For example, put mushrooms in the mushroom soup. Which, by the way, was ice cold.Schnitzels that saw the butter but had no color and crispy crust, pork oyster that was like chewing gum and I don't think were freshly made but bought ready-made with the flavorings already in it.Fried potatoes cooked in butter. No color and full of fat because the temperature has not risen above boiling. The hostess did her best. But misses the “hostess feeling”. As an example. Upon arrival, everyone was greeted with “Hello, are you checking in? Instead of “Good afternoon sir/madam, welcome to our hotel (or to hotel Kiepenkerl) my name is …… . Did you have a nice trip?” A tip for this lady is, don't stand on a chair in a crowded room with your dirty shoes, which you then slide under a table that is then used by a guest because the guest will sit at that table to eat. Tables were not very clean. Placements were still filled with crumbs from the previous meal. The intentions are good. Hotel is clean, beds good, looks neat, but despite all the good intentions, some mistakes have been made.Tip from me. Stop being all inclusive. Go to half pension for the same amount (breakfast and dinner) and put more energy into eating. Fresh without packages, cared for with attention. The ideas are good. Unfortunately no effect. If you spend €2 extra per day on meals and you charge below market prices for drinks. €2.50 for a beer/soft drink, for example. Then you earn a lot more. And people just come again.Ps. If you are not using the beer bar and you do not want to attract outside guests, do not put up a sign that you can have a drink in the beer bar on Fridays and Saturdays.I hope that during the closure to complete the renovation, attention will be paid to the details and perhaps hospitality training for the hostess and perhaps other employees.

Great hotel, delicious breakfast, good care and communication. One downside for us was the water pressure in the shower (weak).
