Coming from the big city, we were looking for peace, simplicity, pure nature. It was supposed to be a break on a family-run farm.We were greeted warmly and shown around. Ms. Langer took her time, even though she was busy preparing dinner. I was impressed by how happy I was about my son; it was clear from the first moment that Ms. Langer loves children. Important to be able to relax yourself. Our room was farm-friendly - simple, clean, nothing was missing. We were under the roof and had a beautiful view of the farm, of nature, up to the fields where the combine harvesters and tractors drove at night to bring in the grain. I didn't sleep as well as I did in this far too short week. The silence at night, the darkness (the lanterns go out at night), the view of the starry sky, it was a great atmosphere. We slept with the windows open, the air was simply wonderful. The food was freshly prepared every day. The Langer family are self-sufficient, they pay attention to quality and the preparation of the food. The bread - a hit. Ms. Langer even makes the yogurt. The Langer family values food and serves less so that nothing is thrown away in the end. You have the opportunity to reorder at any time; we were often asked if we had any wishes. The specialty lies in the freshness and quality of the food, not a lavish buffet, such as in a 5-star hotel. Fruit and vegetables are available according to the seasons. If you want more, get it.Children really get their money's worth on the farm. My son really wants to go back to the Langer family next year. In the morning, unlike in Berlin, he could easily go out into nature. He took part in farm life, went horseback riding, went to the pigs and the chickens, used the table tennis table, went up to the soccer field and played with other children. We went on a night hike, walked across meadows, through forests, listened to nature. We enjoyed the starry sky, which unfortunately we don't see in Berlin. Our point of criticismMy son wanted more eggs at mealtimes. Especially because he went with the chickens to get eggs. There weren't any. However, you had the option to order eggs as an extra, which we did. I spoke to Ms. Langer about it. I wanted to understand why that was. The answer impressed me. Because here too, we live sustainability. The eggs are available as the chickens lay them. The same number of eggs are not laid every day. A lot of eggs are needed in the kitchen to prepare the food, so there are not always enough eggs available to be able to offer eggs permanently.ConclusionMy son and I wanted a break on a farm in nature. We found them. We liked the careful handling of food; it stimulated thought. Ultimately, it is respect for animals, for work, for the natural cycle that we at least pay too little attention to in our everyday lives. The Langer family is friendly and authentic. They explain and ask again and again whether you are satisfied or have a wish. They have values that they live and convey. A holiday at the Langer Hof is relaxing, encourages self-reflection and is grounding.A big thank you also to the Langers team. Especially to Natascha, one of the good souls on the farm, and Carsten, who showed strong nerves during the time in the forest and meadows - the children were in a good mood.We felt comfortable and left feeling refreshed - we'll definitely be back.Kind regardsSven Francke and Misha(August 4th - 10th, 2024)
