POLAT Apartments am Zollverein

We had booked apartment 6: 4.5 rooms, 65sqm, 1 bathroom, 2 living rooms, 2 bedrooms, 4 single beds, 2 sofa beds. We would have needed it exactly for our needs as a group living group for 5 nights. We paid the requested price more than on time: the deadline would have been September 18th, 24, but we had already paid the total price on July 2nd, 2024.On October 2nd, 2024 we arrived at the agreed address and had to report to the offices of an insurance company. After a few minutes, an employee brought the keys for apartment 10. It was exactly the same as apartment 6. He accompanied us to the front door of the apartment building, opened the door with a lot of fuss, wished us a good stay and said goodbye again. He didn't come up to the apartment to instruct us, explain things or anything like that.When we arrived in apartment 10, the nasty surprise awaited us: It was a 2-room apartment: 1 bedroom and 1 living room with a kitchenette. In the living room there was an emergency bed next to the sofa bed...After the initial shock, we looked for Apartment 6 that we had originally booked, it was one floor above us. There were a lot of shoes in front of the entrance door, including children's shoes...Back at the insurance agency we were welcomed by the boss and given the explanation that there was a burst pipe in apartment 6 and therefore the apartment could not be rented out. He found out about this just a few days ago when he returned from vacation. That's why he couldn't inform us about it. When asked about the shoes, he said that they were definitely the workers who were fixing the burst pipe in the apartment. Either we would have to find our way in Apartment 10 or we should find something else.Well, finding anything else at affordable prices in Essen during the gaming fair is impossible.At least we negotiated a price reduction of €120 and were able to ask for 3 mattresses so that one roommate didn't have to sleep on the emergency bed. The bedroom was big enough for 3 beds, so that the 4th roommate could then move into his sofa bed. Unfortunately there was no door between the living and sleeping areas.The story of the burst pipe in Apartment 6 didn't leave us in peace. We rang the bell and a rather sleepy looking guy answered and assured us that there was no burst pipe. He and his family would live in this apartment...So the boss lied to us from start to finish!!Well, finally, on a positive note, the promised mattresses were delivered (by the same guy who opened the door to Apartment 6). The non-working heater was repaired that same evening. The price reduction of €120 was paid out in cash and the new rental agreement was delivered immediately. So everything was formally correct.However, the kitchen equipment was again more than poor: there was barely enough crockery and cutlery for 4 people. When we arrived, these dishes and cutlery were in the damp dishwasher, which was smelling... After we started washing the dishes, it was ok.Well, this will be our first and last experience with this company. We are still clarifying whether we can still achieve something with consumer protection so that more people don't fall for this liar!
