Loved staying at the Z Hotel Covent Garden! The location is excellent - we loved that the entrance is behind a gate at night and not directly on the busy streets. There's plenty of things nearby - what a great area! We did the fancy Junior Suite - it was worth it for the balcony and views. It also gave us some extra space, since otherwise the rooms are very close quarters. Our only two issues were 1. there's no drawers and very few places to hang things, but we managed, 2. the bed was more firm than we'd like, but we requested an extra duvet and slept on top of one of them to solve that issue. So no big issues at all!Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They cleaned the room whenever we put the sign up. Definitely book on their website or become a member - the daily perks are worth it. And the food! - pizza, wine, breakfast, cheese - they did an excellent job. We were comfortable the whole time and knew that we had resources if we were hungry in the middle of the night or needed anything. We also rarely heard other guests, and were on the 5th floor and couldn't hear the street at all. Definitely would recommend this for a couple staying in the city.

Let me start by saying how amazing the location of this hotel is. There are 3 underground stops within 5 minutes walking distance (Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Charing Cross). In the direct surrounding there are very tasty food options for all moments of the day. Westminster Abbey, the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, The London Eye, Soho, many theatres and The British Museum are all within a 20 minute walking distance. There's also a supermarket across the street if you want to save costs on breakfast or lunch. Then, the room itself. I had booked a "Double Room", which is very very small. Smaller than my 10m2 student room was. It has 1 meter of space between the door and the bed. The bathroom feels more spacious than the bedroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it looks quite nice, but as soon as you touch the fancy looking showerhead it's just cheap plastic. The door of the bathroom leaves a small gap and is made of (milky) glass, so if you're travelling with someone who you're not 100% comfortable with, going to the toilet may be an awkward experience. You will be 2 meters apart from each other at most and you can hear everything and see the shapes through the door. It had plenty of towels though and free shower gel and shampoo were also provided, which is nice.Comfort was not something that was kept in mind when the beds were chosen. They were so hard, that I might as well have slept on a slab of stone. My back was instantly complaining the next morning. The bed is also not made for tall people, my husband of almost 2 meter didn't really fit in the bed, he had to curl up to be able to be in bed completely. For two nights this wasn't something to complain about, but I wouldn't want to sleep in a bed like that for longer than that. That said, the staff is very friendly and they also had a room where we could leave our bag after check-out until we left, which is really nice! The 24/7 reception is a big perk as well, because even if you arrive late at night, you can still check in.

We had a lovely stay at the Z Hotel Covent Garden. The location is perfect, and our room was always impeccably clean. While the room is slightly small for four people, in London, you really just need a comfortable bed to sleep in because you’ll spend most of your time exploring the city. The staff were super nice! The hotel is next to St. Paul’s Covent Garden’s backyard, which is one of the most peaceful places I’ve ever visited. I loved sitting on one of the benches there, spending an hour just soaking in the tranquility.

Generally I liked this hotel, the price was great, staff friendly, excellent location and clean room with all the basics. The only downsides was firstly the air con was too powerful, I had a single room and the aircon would be more suited to a larger room. I woke in the middle of the night freezing as it kept chucking out cold air (set to 21 with minimal fan), so I turned it off and got too hot. Secondly I could hear the room next me to showering at 0400 which woke me up, apart from that I did think it was quiet but I don’t think it was busy when I was there so noise could be an issue. These are compact rooms suitable for showering and sleeping only and I would say no more than 2 nights.

Don't pay for a room with windows! This is because this hotel is directly behind a church with bells that go off every hour throughout the night. You likely won't get a nice view either, as their windowed rooms are below ground level, so you just get a prisoners view of a brick wall behind metal bars. I like Z Hotels, they're ok if you're staying on your own. If you're planning on sharing a room, be aware you can see straight through the toilet door (oddly they chose to hide the shower over the toilet). Also, there is a 5mm gap in the door.. so basically... No privacy!
