The location is brilliant, close to the village and many trails. The accommodation was basic but clean, the service was great and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food served.I found the beds quite uncomfortable and the rooms quite hot. Our building was pretty much full, there was noise every time someone walked upstairs or moved on the bed. Between the heat and noise, I didn't get much sleep on any of the nights I was there.I think deep sleepers would still find it a good value for money.

A little trickier to find, a route on google maps isn't actually the route to the hostel and wee heads up there is no grocery shop in this village - closest is Keswick or Ambleside!!But when you arrive, it's great bang for buck (I paid £15 for a bunk in a male dorm, Room 4)!! Super clean rooms and great self-catering kitchen.Location is a little out of the way if you don't drive, I found amenities in the village challenging but with a little planning, you'll be grand!Although this hostel isn't manned 24/7 (from early till 10pm when I stayed) the team were great craic on checkin.

The best hostel I've been to! Absolutely lovely placeTraveled with a friend in mid September, the hostel wasn't very crowded, and we stayed at the twin bed room. The most surprising thing for me was that we got privacy and a clean and comfortable bed for the budget price (thanks we were still under 26 and could get a discount!)The facilities are well maintained, the whole atmosphere is cozy and pleasent. Surrounded by beautiful sceneryWe haven't ate their breakfast but it smelled good. The only downsides for me were the bit small self catering kitchen in the main building (we still managed to cook a great meal), the heater in the room that we couldn't turn on and the falty wi-fi

Fantastic location, helpful staff, brilliant value for money.Located within Grasmere, there are plenty of local options for food and a small co-op closeby, or you can get a very short bus ride to Ambleside for more options.Staff were more than accommodating and very friendly, allowing me to check in slightly early as they were at the desk anyway, allowing me to get on with my trip.At £30 for two nights, I was accommodated within a six person room. Beds were comfortable with bedding provided, as well as a decent sized locker, but you will require your own combination or key padlock (which are sold at reception if you forget like I did!). The main expense for me ended up being food, YHA can provide both breakfast and dinner for reasonable prices, but if you're on a tighter budget, you can bring your own food and use the facilities within to prepare your own meals. Parking was also included, allowing me to use bus services and save on some high fees for car parking around the lakes. The option to share a room with five strangers may not be for everyone, but for the price, you can't fault it. In my experiences at YHA's, everyone you share with is always friendly, so don't let the thought of sharing with strangers put you off! This YHA is perfectly located for good fell walking without the need of using your car or a bus, which was the main attraction for me. I will definitely be returning and would recommend it to anyone else!Attached to this review are photos of the bedspace, the hostel itself, and the look down into Grasmere from a nearby fell.

Exactly what you'd expect from a YHA. Facilities were decent with handy wash/drying room. Camping was good and very spread out. Breakfast was just right for the days activities too

Good location for this side of the lakes. Not as much character or homely feeling as some of the best YHAs. Nothing wrong with it, just not the best. Noisy fan in the bathroom that wouldn't stop all night.

YHA Grasmere is a lovely place to stay in the lakes. Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from town, but it could be in the middle of no-where. Tranquil and beautiful.  …
