Everything was satisfactory! Some spaces were a bit small (as you might expect with an older building such as this) and the toilets could have done with more regular cleaning, but otherwise I would definitely recommend this place--the prices are excellent for what you get, and I had no great frustrations, albeit with the small exception of being locked out of my room promptly at 10am. I knew checkout was at 10, but had to wait for some time before getting access to the showers, and when I returned to my room afterward (no later than 10:05) was locked out, with nothing to wear but my robe and a towel. Most hotels offer a slight grace period, but even still, locking folks out feels... extreme. Regardless, the staff were accommodating (as they were my entire visit) about getting me back into my room, and I was out very quickly thereafter with no further incident. Otherwise just a great location, unbeatable price, and beautiful building with an interesting history!

Two person double bedroom en suiteThe room opened from the little alleyway after the entrance, so it was quite noisy with all the people walking in front of it. We even had a guy trying to enter at 6am because he thought it was the washroom. Also, no wardrobe or coat hanger in the room which might be problematic if you stay longer.Everything else was great, amazing location, great prices, we even got a TV, water boiler and tea bags. Clean room, really comfortable bed. All in all, 100% worth it, I recommend it to young travellers.

Cheapest stay in town! Good value. They didn't compromise on anything that is needed for a good hostel. Some inconveniences, but that's why it's cheap. The power switch for my bed was finicky and my request to be in a lower bunk was not given, but everything was good. Even 24 hours desk let me checkout early before breakfast. Clean sheets. Comfortable mattress. Sturdy bunk.

It's cute and modern on the inside but no matter what is a long uphill walk to get to the location and they pick your bed for you instead of a first come first serve deal like most other hostels. The curtains around the beds are nice if you're in a bunk room. The shared bathrooms are useable but gross and you cannot adjust the temperature of the water in the shower, so it's just shy of scalding even on the hottest days. The chef wasn't in on a day they said the kitchens were open either so no lunch unless you wanted to pay to leave your bags at the hostel because there is a super strict check-in policy. I even overheard the staff talking about how gross the bathrooms are, yet they somehow have time to clean and vacuum out the window panes, so go figure. Where it is quiet outside, everything creaks on the inside.Update after stay:The modernity of it is really it's best quality. There's an old hostel (the phoenix) is stayed at before this, and despite their bathrooms being tiny, I still felt okay enough to enter the shower stalls without shoes and generally felt much cleaner and quieter and more respectful/accommodating than it did at this hostel. I can't imagine spending more for a room here and the continental breakfast is not worth £8 at all. Definitely not when there's a whole grocery store up the road with food that could last much longer for less. Maybe a £3 breakfast, MAYBE. But not having a microwave here is a travesty. Not sure I'll come back. Not worth it in may ways.

Not a great experience unfortunately. Great location and price, but that's all the good stuff I'm afraid. I came in the first day and it was a puddle of water in my room because it was leaking from upstairs. …

I highly recommend Safestay. Located in the beautiful neighborhood of Kensington, the hostel is situated inside Holland Park. Our room was spacious and clean. Staff were very friendly and the manager David was very helpful. …

Great value for what I paid (£17 per night). Beds were comfy and the complex was pleasant and felt very safe. The shower was broken in my room so they gave me a free breakfast which was very welcome. Right next to Holland Park which was lovely to walk around.||Would happily stay again.

Location, cleanliness, cool and friendly guests and staff what more could you want?As a young professional looking to just stay one night in London it was affordable but had all the amenities of a world class hotel including a very trendy and spacious communal area at reception which I could even see as being good for networking. The fountains outside were very relaxing and gave the gated garden a luxury feel. I slept in the 18-bed room and of course there were some comings and goings but everyone was respectful and quiet. The bed and pillow was very comfortable and despite a good number of guests the bathrooms were always empty because there is one on each floor.

A pleasant but all too brief visit. The TV and tea / coffee making facilities in the room were a welcome bonus, as was the free WIFI which was also very useful. Check in and check out was quick and efficient and I had a good night's sleep which was just what I needed. Very nice location on the outskirts of Holland Park which is lively during the day, just be a bit more cautious during the evening / after dark in making your way to the Hostel. I hope to return on a future London visit.

I arrived to this hostel on May 22/24 in the early afternoon, I checked in & went to my room, it was a 10-bed dorm room even though I swear I paid for a 15 bed dorm room, it must be a screwup on the hostelworld website when I booked it; the …
