Hostel itself is fine, but despite being advertised as being for women only, functionally, it isn’t.My main problem was that I booked into the women’s only section of the hostel, but this is only a section of rooms and 2 bathrooms, no separate common area. Additionally, I was shocked to find a man in my room at 1:30am having turned on the lights and telling us ladies “not to worry.” I was sleeping and in being awoken like this, I asked him in there was a problem and if he was staff and he said no and to just go back to sleep. I obviously waited until he left, but this was unacceptable as this was explicitly supposed to be a women’s only dorm and section of the hostel. Seemed like one of the girls staying in my room had let him in, but it highlighted a significant flaw in the design as there are no staff to watch the door to the women’s section. Staff are only downstairs, by the front door.Additionally, the hostel has no kitchen or full sized sinks, just a “chill out room” that is very small with a balcony that is poorly protected from the rain, so largely unusable.

The location is good but the cleaning in the room is very bad. The blanket and mattress from inside is very dirty and in the room there are insects and bugs also. There is a cockroach in the toilets. They have a policy that check in time only at 03 pm. I waited for 13 hours because i came in at night and even 5 minutes before 03 pm they didn't allow me to check in. They said wait for 5 minutes more. They gave a towel and they replaced it every day but all the towels were smelly.

Unbelievably loud from the street all night til 2am on a Tuesday due to the bar downstairs and thin walls / windows. £3 to leave your luggage (aka carry it downstairs, then have to carry it upstairs again, through the bar and up several narrow flights of stairs to the rooms) - heard the receptionist say “you have to pay to leave luggage after checkout because you’re no longer checked in with the hostel” however we had to pay when we arrived earlier than 3pm as well. So basically, they’re trying to grab money from you at every opportunity. Also two, yes TWO toilets (one with a broken seat) per floor despite there being about 12 rooms hosting between 2 and 8 people. I’d avoid despite a good location and the rooms being fairly clean.

The hostel itself isn’t too bad as I use the hostel to stay overnight for work. What alarmed me was the rude and offensive attitude of the one desk manager who served me. One desk attendant booked me in to the wrong room then when I went down three flights of stairs instead of apologising the ‘desk manager’ a woman who looked so fed up with her job wouldn’t even listen to what I was saying. Customer service skills was lacking and when I asked her for the manager she said she was the manager and I need to search the website for ‘whatever’ what a rude and disrespectful person. I’m 45 and travel for work I could not believe her arrogance. The hostel has no way of an actual person dealing with a travelling customer and funnily enough all the staff hide their names! So you don’t know who the person is as they don’t tell you their name. I hope this desk manager gets full training in customer service because she’s giving a bad name to the hostel. Otherwise it’s a cheap and excellent location for female travellers. I also raised a complaint.

The comments about the rudeness of the staffs are true. I and all the people in the comments who have suffered injustice, feel sorry for the miserable families of the employees. Anyone with a good family upbringing will not be so arrogant, and think themselves very high in such a small place. This is a job that should really be replaced by AI.

Excellent location. Walking distance from Borough market, walking distance from subway station. It’s very clean as well. Only downside is that the bedroom is very small (I booked female only)

Gotta set the bad reviews straight! I stayed in a 14 bed female dorm and it was great! Loved how the female section was separated from the rest of the hostel with a pin code. There were great lockers in the rooms, bathrooms were good (just found one toilet that didn't always flush, but everything else was great and clean), didn't hear any noise at all from the downstairs bar (that might depend on the room idk), bed was comfy and cozy with the little curtain that covers most of the bed. There's a little light and a plug/usb port above each bed! Staff were great too!

The worst hostel I have ever stayed in by far. Everything was so loud and dirty. It was overrun with groups of high schoolers having parties at all hours. There was shouting in the bar, sirens, and people talking constantly. Someone’s alarm went off for 10 minutes straight while they were in the shower. There was toilet paper stuck to the walls in the bathroom among other messes. I had to check out earlier than expected because their sandpaper like sheets where giving me a rash. And breakfast wasn’t included in my booking. Their privacy curtains only cover 3/4 of the bed so you won’t get any privacy but you will get some mood lighting from the fluorescent personal lights of everyone in the room at 1am.I think it’s worth noting that they give a free shot for positive reviews, so take those with a grain of salt.
