The room was good, the location is perfect and the cleanliness of room/toilets is good. The elevator has been worked without problem during my stay. The bar&restaurant section of the hostel is also good for chilling. The only negative thing that I detected is the bad smell in the hallways.(the room smelled good as the windows could open properly)

Great place to stay, close enough from transport links and a shortish walk to the city centre. |Rooms were clean and tidy, as were the toilets and showers. |Staff were helpful, useful if it's your first visit, the place is a maze. …

Generator Hostel ReviewI recently stayed at Generator Hostel and while it has the potential to be great, my experience was disappointing.Service: ★★☆☆☆The staff seemed annoyed and indifferent. Requests for assistance were met with disinterest, and it felt like we were more of an inconvenience than guests. The lack of attentiveness really detracted from what could have been a welcoming atmosphere.Cleanliness: ★★☆☆☆While the common areas showed some effort, our floor was not up to standard. The bathrooms often felt neglected. There were a few problems with the heat. The showers were a hit or miss. Overall, not impressed with the aesthetic and cleanliness.Location: ★★★★☆On the bright side, the location is a major plus. Situated in a vibrant area with easy access to public transport and local attractions, it was convenient for exploring the city. It is within a neighborhood so you have to be quiet exiting and entering at all times. Even then, the positive aspects of the location cannot compensate for the service and cleanliness issues.Overall, Generator Hostel has potential, but significant improvements are needed in service and cleanliness to match the allure of its location. I wouldn’t recommend it unless changes are made.

The room was very small and the pillows really uncomfortable. The lift was broken and the sanitary bins were completely overflowing. The toilet and shower facilities were not clean. We would not stay again. The price was however very reasonable and the location good.

Honestly if I could rate this zero I would. This place has gone so downhill. My room - dated, filthy, old mattress, broken bed, paper thin walls, other rooms doors slamming also shakes this room it’s impossible to sleep. Elevator broken which made going to the fifth floor horrid. No help from staff. The bathrooms are tiny and you can’t have a shower without getting all your things wet or leaving them outside the shower where others can easily access your things. The shower has so much limescale it’s sickening. Bathrooms were signed off as being cleaned but the same mess on the toilets were there for two days. The hallway smelt like faeces. The rooms smell like mould. The rooms are freezing. Honestly, go and stay anywhere but here. The fact this place can charge 120 pound per night for a room without an ensuite in the state it is in absolutely criminal. This place borderline needs a standards check for health and safety.

I felt safe even as a solo female. Staff were lovely, really helpful. Beds were comfy and it was clean. Bathrooms were alright, the shower was good but the cubicle was really small. There were quite a few hooks but nowhere to put a spare change of clothes without them getting wet. It was also pretty quiet at night, head doors a bit but nothing really after 10. Great value for money.

Great hostel with a great location. You have the kings cross metro only a 5 minute walk away. The staff were helpful and the nachos at the kitchen were amazing. Definitely recommend if on a budget. :)

I do not recommend staying here. The rooms are small and tight, with barely any space to move around and store items. There are crowds and crowds of middle school/high school kids at breakfast and making loud noises in the hallways. Service was not friendly whenever I went to ask something at reception. The breakfast for groups is very mediocre at best (just cheese, white bread, cakey bread, some cereal, milk, jam, yogurt, coffee/juice), and if I could I would’ve upgraded for an extra fee for English Breakfast but I was not able to do so with my group booking. There is a musty hallway smell, so it is not pleasant upon entering after a long day. The shared bathrooms were fine, but only one of the toilets on my floor were working. The showers were akin to a college dorm— they were cleaned regularly, but gets super humid. A guest also had his passport stolen at the hostel and was unable to stay another night because the hotel wasn’t held liable. The only good thing is the location, so I am rating it two stars.

First of all, it was our fault booking a non refundable room. In my entire life, while traveling more than 10-15 times a year, I never had to change my plans. Not even with the pandemic. But this time, we changed our plans by deciding to travel by car. We had to cancel since this hotel doesn’t offer parking spots/garage. So I asked for a refund, which I know wouldn’t be possible. I asked to change the date. I asked to pay more to be able to change the date. It wouldn’t work. Again, entirely my fault. But for the hotel to respond with a possible garage parking for our car, which lists a lot of break ins on google, is more than unprofessional. Alone for that reply, I wouldn’t recommend this Generator to anyone (Stockholm was great though). The private room was not worth the price. It was outdated, the floor and walls were dirty. The bathroom was the shower. So no curtain or whatsoever. You literally had the toilet next to the open shower. Can’t even hang towels inside, since everything would get wet. The carpet in the hallway had quite the odor of feet.Only plus was the location and the cool entry/reception area. Go stay elsewhere for the same price but better service and value.
