Review in relation to the spa, ‘fire and ice’ experience. Clearly a lot of time and money has gone into this and the experience itself was great. We enjoyed the two different sauna’s (third one wasn’t turned on for some reason), and the limit to 6 guests made it very enjoyable. Having to use the leisure centre changing rooms was disappointing. The rooms smelt of urine and weren’t particularly pleasant. Our spa day included lunch which was served in the bistro upstairs. Slightly odd being the only people sat in dressing gowns but the food was good. It would be nice to have music playing in the spa or something to add to the ambience

Stayed at the toorak over the weekend. Found the hotel nice and clean, rooms are spacious and clean although there are some minor elements that need to be addressed. Paint on the window frames (wooden) were pealing off (room 34) bathroom latch doesn't lock so no privacy if you're sharing a room with friends or kids... if you've got people staying in the room above, you can hear them stomping away, making the windows in your room rattle.... so not much peace and quiet especially as this room is next to the staircase and main access point to other rooms, you can hear all the chatter in the corridor and car park!!.Some signage outside would help to find the reception or parking that's available at the back of the hotel.Indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi etc were excellent, kids loved it... bit of a walk from the hotel but absolutely worthwhile!!!

Brilliant Christmas stay over 4 nights. The food was excellent with plenty of options. Dancing was great with Ballroom and sequence variations. Plenty of parking and great staff. Pierre gave us a wonderful mixture of fun and dancing. Already booked for next year!

Rooms were clean, but a little dated, and a little on the chilly side. However that was well compensated ,with the food in the restaurant. Brilliant entertainment in the starlight bar with Kevin (we all cried with laughter ,at his show very family oriented) Brilliant swimming pools, for the grandchildren. Spar treatments excellent. And the icing on the cake .The politeness and helpfulness of all the Staff members, who were allways smiling especially the restaurant team. Will definitely return.

I have been coming to fitness classes here for 8 years. Recently the parking machine has been out of order when I have recently parked. In one week I have received 2 parking fines at £60 each. I called the reception and spoke to a lady who had a bit of an attitude who told me that I can appeal it to the company directly. I think if you’re a business that wants people to come and spend their money with you, getting a private company in to charge customers £60 a time isn’t going to do you an favours. I won’t be coming back. Shame.

Stayed at TLH last week on a coach holiday. We have stayed at the Derwent several times as independent travellers and once at the Toorak. We were upgraded to the Carlton. The rooms in the Carlton are more spacious, but we were very disappointed with the poor menu choice and service at dinner in the Carlton compared with the Derwent. We expected the Carlton dinners to be superior as they cost more than dinner in the Derwent. We will not be dining in the Carlton again.
