Just came back from a lovely weekend away. Have been here lots of times over the year however this was our first with a baby. Everything was great but it would have been nice to have a baby changing table in at least one of the swimming pool changing rooms as we had to get him dressed on the floor. Also the service in the restaurant was a little different this time. Normally after sitting down we have the bar service come to ask if we want anything. This didn’t happen on the second night.

The amenities and Entertainment were amazing. Two members of staff on Reception on arrival with only one interested in doing any work. Booked for the half board option and the food was most pleasant. Bus stop directly outside to take you to town. Rooms extremely dated and small. I would go again for the Amenities.

We had such a lovely time at the Derwent! I was there with my six children, one of their friends, and my parents. The kids loved the swimming pool and it was so easy to walk to the station. The breakfasts and dinner that was included was also lovely. Therewere also a number of children's activities such as the Animal Encounter which were totally free. Other locations would charge for these events. Very family friendly and we will be back!! A++++++

When stepping into this hotel, it felt welcomed, you're allowed to use the faculties before check in if you arrive early which is brilliant! Discard the one star review because there is a hairdryer and there is toiletries provided. The rooms felt like you went back in time with the curtains, needs to be redesigned and a little more modern. In the rooms the windows cannot be opened but you are provided with a very good fan and a scenic view. The Dinner was lovely although there could of been more selections personally. Overall, they do great offers accompanied with a scenic view!

This is a difficult review to write because the hotel is excellent in some regards and terrible in others; Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent including the breakfast. The facilities for children are superb and the pool is very good indeed. The hotel itself - the general infrastructure and architecture is poor. Everything is spread out to an unhelpful extent - the corridors are cramped and too hot. It's not a pleasant experience if you have luggage and children. The rooms are basic but clean.I can't recommend this hotel but it certainly does have some redeeming features.

Rooms were spacious and clean. The layout of the hotel wouldn't suit people with accessibility issues. The lift is small and would struggle to hold a wheelchair. The main lift was out of order. The buffet food was terrible. We struggled to get our Cutlery off the table as it was unclean and sticky. The next morning, we went out for breakfast as the thought of eating there made us felt sick. Both my wife and son were sick that night. The outdoor pool isn't heated, and the sea was warmer.Fortunately, we only stayed the night and moved on the next day.

We stayed for 6 nights and had such a nice holiday there. All staff were very helpful, polite and always had a smile. I read some other reviews about the layout of the hotel but you have to remember this hotel was built in the late 1800's so the layout will not be as modern as the Premier Inn and their will be lots of stairs, a small lift and long corridors as that's what is was like back then. I think this adds to the atmosphere TBH.Good WiFi (10-15Mbs) all around the hotel which surprised me. Rooms dated but clean, spacious, comfortable and with a nice 32" TV with all the digital channels. We had breakfast and dinner and loved every meal. We always had the same table which had our name on it which I thought was a nice touch. Food was hot and well cooked with good flavours. The deserts were excellent.Nighttime entertainment was the best bit. Big room with lots of seats overlooking the dance floor and stage. The in-house entertainers were funny and very good with the crowd and kids especially. The outside acts they brought in of a night were great too. Overall we had a great holiday there and didn't want to leave so on the last day we booked an extra night which reception sorted out for us very easily. I think we are definitely going back next year. Thank you to everyone that worked there from us.

The rooms could do with a bit of upgrading as it felt like I’ve stepped back in time in the 70s when entered. Discard the one reviewed post as there IS a hairdryer and they DO have toiletries. The food was nice but could do with a few more selections. The staff were pleasant and you come in with warm open arms as you set foot to the hotel.

Beware the steps. I arrived at the hotel on Fri 21 June 2024 for a long weekend with my cousin. Location is good it's close to the beach and town centre. One of the lifts was not working so long queues for the only lift. Staircase was an option but stairs were small and narrow. Dinner was fine food was good. Got a drink from the bar but service was slow. Only one bar tender on duty. I noticed there were a lot of steps in all the communal areas. Went to the Starlight Lounge and watched entertainment which was fun and had a dance. When returning to my table I fell from the steps leading off the dance floor and have been in hospital for 4 weeks with several breaks in my arm and leg. I would warn anyone staying here to be very careful the steps are narrow and handrails not adequate. It's also dimmly lit in the Starlight Lounge. The steps I fell from had yellow and black hazard tape on them but nothing indicating what the hazard was. Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues at this hotel?
