The food and beer/cider choices are great. The food was absolutely delicious. My Venison stew was the best taste I've enjoyed in a pub/restaurant in many years. Truly that good. My wife's belly pork was crispy and juicy in all the right places. Very very good.

We were a party of 4 cyclists. The hotel is 500 metres from the granite way cycle path. The hotel stored the 4 bikes for us and a great welcome. The pub was busy doing food and a good choice of local ales and cider. Food was outstanding pub grub menu done really well no frozen chips here. And you must try the belly pork. The room was spotlessly clean and great value. breakfast was lovely good produce always a winner. Thanks a lovely stay. And we will return. A great stop for the Devon coast to coast.

I have been visiting this pub on and off for around 40 years and staying there about once a year for the last 15. It has always been the source of great memories over these years and our last stay was no exception. …

A brilliant hotel. A really pleasant location, and a very picturesque building. We stayed for one night in August. The room was very nice, not modern, but definitely in keeping with the hotel itself. …

Overall it was a nice and rustic inn to stay at and the location is quite close to key areas within Dartmoor. The room was spacious and tidy, however, the bunk bed was rattling a lot and there was only a sliding door to the ensuite bathroom with no lock which was odd. However, we slept well and the view from the window was nice. The play area outside consisted of a worn out children's slide and not much else but the pool table was fun to use. The food was tasty but unfortunately felt overpriced for what you got, really. The portions were a bit small and you paid a lot for fairly simple food. The breakfast was disappointing. The cost of the room included breakfast but that wasn't cheap. I was expecting more continental options. I ordered toast and literally got 2 halves of fairly cold toast and some marmalade. We ended requesting more toast for the table as it wasn't enough. The cooked options were very tasty but again, small portions and there were no vegetarian alternatives. Beverages were very expensive. Overall though, it's a quaint and comfortable old inn in a rural but convenient location and the staff were very polite and nice, but the rooms did feel overpriced and the food options were limited with small portions. However, we do look forward to visiting again in the autumn when hopefully the price of the rooms may be a bit cheaper.

We camped here for 2 nights to attend a birthday party held in the skittle alley. The campsite was basic but we had an electric pitch and the toilet facilities were clean. We had an evening meal which was amazing and so good. My husband had the venison casserole and he went into raptures over it, he loves venison, and they even gave him a bread roll to mop the gravy up. The staff were lovely and so helpful. The food provided for the party was really good as well. We had a thoroughly great time.

Really positive experience. The staff (Poppy and Indy) are hard-working, polite, professional, and friendly. They make you feel very welcomed. The food is quite good, with the breakfast being excellent.Large car park makes it easy to park, the pub interior is very traditional and cosy. Good selection of beer and spirits, with a large selection of gin. The outdoor area is quite specious and the garden well maintained. Rooms are OK and very clean. Really enjoyed our stay in this place. Well done.

Stopped here on our way home and had a delicious home cooked meal, with fresh vegetables, chips all local produce and the best tasty beef ale pie I've ever had. My hubby had a burger and chips which was also delicious. We we're both full but couldn't resist trying a strawberry pavlova to share also delicious. A nice cosy pub and friendly staff.

What a find. Lovely old school hotel/pub/restaurant. We stayed in the campsite behind, lovely views and walks. The bar area really takes you back. Beer was superb, food delicious and the ginger sponge and custard dessert a triumph. Can't wait to return.
