Stopped for the advertised cream teas. £13 for two, huge pots of tea and two fresh scones per person. Amazingly large pot of clotted cream garnished with raspberries and blackberries. Choice of three jams.Utterly lovely, nice old Inn decor and the smell of the mains was amazing.

Fabulous stay, very personable staff, best shower yet in all my stays. Simply fantastic brekky, and the previous evening whilst supping a few pints of their very well kept real ale observed food arriving at guests tables and this also …

Lovely old fashioned country inn. Lovely gardens, car park was a bit scary to get into with a roof box on, as to get to the car park you go through a tunnel under the 1st floor of the building. …

Evening meal while staying nearby. Really good food and service. Wonderful character hotel/restaurant/pub. Excellent decor and facilities, wood beams an panel in main areas, wood burning stoves, and lots of local stone in construction of main building and charmingly landscaped garden area and out buildings. Snugs and small friendly dining areas. I can imagine this as a warm and inviting oasis in the off season too. Paid £20 a head for mains and drinks. Food very high quality, filling and tasty for party of 4 adults and 2 children.

I can't comment on the rooms but the food was amazing - we stopped in for an evening meal.We were welcomed (with our 2 dogs) and seated quickly. Friendly service, pub games to play, great cider (Devon Red on tap), generous size portions! We ordered spring rolls, smoked trout on toast, a GF fish and chips and sausages with bubble and squeak - honestly? We didn't need a started as well as a main. The servers were really friendly and there was a splendid atmosphere.

Just a beautiful and lovely hotel. Quaint in all the right ways but still having the modern amenities people now expect. The bar area had lots of nooks to sit in and enjoy a drink at the end of a busy day. Staff helpful, and the breakfast superb. When back visiting our friends will definitely use this hotel again.

Firstly the good points: the hotel is clean, comfortable and well-maintained.|Our real gripe is with the restaurant, which is quite important when there are few alternatives in the area. …

Went there with the family just on passing, I love old buildings especially ones with thatched roofs which this has. It's a beautiful building and the staff all very friendly. Dogs are allowed everywhere even in the eating areas which is a huge tick for us. We only stopped for a couple of drinks but after seeing the roast dinners being ferried out the kitchen we had to have one. Sirloin of beef with all the trimmings just £16 what a bargain and absolutely couldn't fault it one bit. Highly recommend trying the roasts, plenty of parking at the back, didn't see the rooms but would imagine they're very well kept like the rest of the place.

On the outside this is a stunning looking pub but unfortunately looks were very deceiving on our visit. We didn't feel welcomed at all, staff were very passive aggressive and rude which made us feel uncomfortable.Food was well overpriced for the quality we received. Medium rare steak served well done/burnt. Stale rock hard burger buns and samphire that was woody, food was also served warm and cokd not hot even though we were next to the kitchen.Didn't bother staying for pudding and wouldn't visit again!
