This is my first time at Torquay and travelled by train so The Grand seemed the obvious choice being in a good location to everything but giving me luxury as well. How wrong i was. …

My sister and I had a lovely stay at the Grand Hotel; the room was spacious and comfortable, unlike most hotels it wasn't horribly hot and you could open the lovely big sash window. …

Grand entrance, lobby and bar. The staff are friendly. The pool is nice. The rooms however are worn and a bit rubbish. We had the window as open as it would go (which isn't much) with a sea view room... Zero air! It wasn't until the next day we were told there was a fan hidden away beside the safe. It didn't change anything though; it was still unbearably stuffy and hard to sleep. The bed and bedsheets were both very budget and the furniture in the room didn't quite fit, size-wise.Location is both great and not great at the same time. It's a wonderful area but if you want to go to anything in Torquay you have to walk to the main harbour area because there's nothing where the hotel is. It's a short and pleasant walk, but it's a walk.

A very comfortable hotel situated on a slight incline from the coast, adjacent to Torquay railway station. The staff are very attentive and obviously well trained. I swam in the outdoor swimming pool (great temperature even on a drizzly day)! I stayed in a comfortable twin at the back of the hotel. Although the room overlooked the station, noise from trains was negligible (we did have windows open)! Toquay centre and harbour area was walkable, but I took a bus (2 stops) as was visiting with my elderly mother.
