Our recent stay at Lincombe Hall Hotel & Spa was unfortunately overshadowed by a disappointing and awkward dining experience. We were handed a menu that displayed prices, but there was no clear explanation of whether our dinner was included in our package or how additional charges would apply. We had to ask our server, who confirmed that dinner was indeed included. After finishing our meal, we headed back to our room, thinking all was settled. However, shortly after, a staff member knocked on our door, stating that we had left without paying. This intrusion felt unnecessary and uncomfortable, particularly as they could have simply addressed it at checkout. Initially, the waiter informed us we owed £120 for the dinner. He then went back and checked with the manager and said that we owed £30 for a sauce and steak addition—something that could have been clarified in advance. After spending £450 for our stay, this experience felt rude and unprofessional. A hotel of this caliber should be able to handle minor charges discreetly, without making guests feel accused. Sadly, we left with a poor impression of the service. Not what we expected, and a shame given the reputation of the place. We certainly had a far better experience in July 2022 where the place, the service and the politeness of the staff left us astonished. But I'm sorry, after the last experience, I wouldn't recommend this place. 1 star.

I booked a weekend stay for me and my partner, including the breakfast. The room was very good; clean and tidy with a good size bath if you wanted to use it. My only complaint for the room is that the mattress was quite firm and I didn't find very comfortable to sleep. The friendliness of the staff was excellent and overall hospitality was great though I must explicitly commend the lady who was running the spa area. As we had not been before, we were not sure how everything operated at the Lincombe Hall. She showed us around and explained everything.Unfortunately breakfast was a bit of a let down when the service of our order had slipped; we had both ordered full cooked breakfasts but both had arrived with items missing and my partner complained that the bacon was very firm as if it had been sat under the hot plate for a long time. If this had happened elsewhere, I'm not sure I would be too bothered but when you pay a decent amount of money, I think it is fair to expect a certain level of quality and service.I was very disappointed after our stay to receive a notice of parking charge from the company that manages the car park despite obviously having given our car details to the receptionist upon arriving. When appealing this issue with the company in question, with evidence of our stay, they still declined the appeal and so we had to get the hotel involved to get it cancelled. This was a ridiculous process where we should not have received this parking charge in the first place.Overall the spa was great but I have been left with a very sour taste in my mouth regarding the breakfast and parking charge in that I'm not sure I would recommend the hotel to others.

An excellent overnight stay, for a romantic anniversary treat. The hotel was lovely, the staff friendly and helpful. We had a Classic room which was a good size, clean, with good facilities and a comfy bed. …

Excellent hotel - likely the best in Torbay. Staff are friendly, the updated rooms are very comfortable, with robes, good linens, coffee/tea/biscuits, bath tub plus separate shower in a modern bathroom.  …

We have stayed on the hotel over the last 15 years and each time we return you can see that investment is put back in improvements and the facilities rather than in the pocket of the Directors. Service is special and one is treated as if you are the only guest there. Doggy care is first class and they cater for their every need. Bar prices are comparable with pub prices, breakfast is good and evening meals are adequate. Entertainment on bank holiday was superb and the staff exceeded expectations- well done team see you again soon!

We booked a 1 night stay at this hotel to celebrate our engagement. I wouldn't usually choose Torquay, and as we are lucky enough to live in Cornwall, I'd usually pick a spa hotel there. …
