Went for the full afternoon tea to celebrate an anniversary. Everything about it was absolutely first class. We had a beautiful view of the sea, the tea was superb and the service friendly and efficient. We couldn't eat it all but were given take-out boxes for the rest - it was too good to leave. Excellent in every way.

The Belmont Hotel is beautifully situated on the seafront at Sidmouth, and we stayed for a mid week break in a deluxe sea facing room. We had a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay. …

We stayed here for a celebratory weekend treat and we were very happy with the choice of hotel. It's situated right next to the esplanade and we had a lovely room with a balcony overlooking the seafront. Complimentary chocolates, a fruit bowl and bottled water were provided.Downstairs was a spacious lounge, a grand dining room and a separate dining area which was more informal. In the afternoon we had a delicious afternoon tea sitting by the picture window with a wonderful view of the seaside. Both evenings there was a pianist playing easy listening tunes. The breakfast was very good with a large selection on the menu, served at the table. In the evening canapés are served in the lounge. We sampled the Table d'Hote menu and had a delicious meal: Fillet steak Wellington with plenty of fresh vegetables followed by cheesecake. It was beautifully presented and served by friendly waiters. The Belmont has a pretty garden, sun terrace and putting green and guests at the Belmont are able to use the facilities at the Victoria hotel next door. We very much enjoyed the indoor pool, spa bath, steam room and sauna but they also have an outdoor pool with a poolside bar and a tennis court.I can't fault the hotel in any way, we had a marvellous time as the location is fabulous and the staff made you feel special.

Beautiful place. Perfect position on the front in Sidmouth, moments from the beach with lifeguard station. Grand but very friendly. We had one of the cheaper rooms. Still, it was airy and spacious, with a partial sea view. Room service also very much appreciated.

Lovely location overlooking the seafront and would be ideal for mature and the elderly except for access which is quite severe due to a steep incline up to the main entrance and steps down to side exit. Both come into use when using the Spa and Pool facilities at the sister hotel.A warm greeting is waiting at arrival with receptionists both friendly and helpful.Service is also efficient and willing to do the little extra as required. The standard of meals was most disappointing both with choice and quality.
