It's a comfortable hotel, we've stayed multiple times for family get togethers. The set menu food for our 27 people was actually first class . The wine was good, the corkage eye watering. Breakfast was also excellent

Have stayed overnight at the Golden Lion before as it’s convenient for our office in Rugby. My room was clean and comfortable and has plenty of parking at the rear.||We usually book dinner in the restaurant, and should be noted that the menu is fairly limited if you are eating a couple of times in a row.

Overall quite disappointed with this 'Hotel'. From my arrival to departure there were problems.1) A small thing, but nonetheless annoying. Upon arrival, signs for reception directed me to a locked door. If it wasn't for two helpful people sat nearby I wouldn't have known to go to the bar to check in.2) The room itself. I made the mistake of paying for the novelty of a four-poster bed room. I don't know how but their own pictures of the room seem overly flattering. I'll add my own, and you'll see that the bed is way too big for the room. Also the mattress is a 4-5inch thick, uncomfortable springy old thing. I found a layer of dust on top of the cupboard and the TV was the sort that didn't even have a built in channel guide. Also there aren't any plug extensions near the bed side, so bring an extension.3) Food. See my attached pictures. The fish looks good, but was very soggy. Also, why so few mushy peas? And the tartar sauce, at least fill the Ramekin! The breakfast, while tasty, was only really half a breakfast. It all gives the impression that food is quite scarce in this area of the country or something. For the price I paid, and the Google rating, I really expected better.

Stopped here on a whim for morning coffee, and whilst in the bar ordering drinks, we enquired about 'cake'.The lady was very helpful and said she has brownies or carrot cake. We opted for brownies. Our friends opted for a sandwich.Coffee and tea came out first, followed by the sandwiches, which looked as exciting as a wet weekend. The coffee was actually very nice, but we had almost drunk it when it when the brownies arrived, which we thought a but odd.So the brownies went from being a 'cake' to being presented neatly in a bowl, warmed, drizzled with chocolate sauce, and topped with a scoop of ice cream. What am I moaning at you might ask yourself!?When I paid, I nearly passed out hearing the lady say £20 for 2 x flat whites and 2 x brownies!!!When telling customers you have 'cake', you might want to explain this is actually a 'dessert' and at £7 each are severly overpriced.Would we return? Absolutely not. Would we recommend? Absolutely not.

Had a wonderful family meal in the restaurant last night. Two had the steak pie - it was a proper steak pie with tender chunks of steak in a shortcrust pastry case, one had the gnocchi, one had the cassoulet and I had the linguine, all …

Lovely people and lovely pub. My only gripe and I have this with many pubs serving vegetarian food is that there was only 1 choice on the menu and again another common gripe is that you get no side salad to accompany your meal. I had the Gnocchi, which was lovely but looked very bland. More colour and excitement with added salad would have been brilliant. I'm a vegetarian I just love vegetables!!!

Great location, easy access, and quiet area. The breakfast was a great choice of cooked breakfast or continental. The room was nice. However, the 4 poster bed I felt was too big for the room. There was only 1 very uncomfortable wooden chair to sit on, and the bed was very high, limiting viewing of the tv it also made the room very dark and dated. The other room we passed when leaving with normal beds was bigger, and tbh more inviting. I think the bed could be moved to another hotel room and would improve the comfort and appearance.
