Sooo disappointing. Definitely not 4star. Beautiful outside but inside dated and scruffy. Service (with exception of one lady in reception) was dreadful everywhere. …

I recently attended a wedding here and can say it’s a great location as it’s walking distance to Stratford. Michael stood out as the most welcoming, accommodating and knowledgeable. Such a friendly face to have working at the hotel! The events team were very helpful and supported the couple throughout the day. The food was delicious and the rooms were very spacious. The minute issues we had were resolved swiftly by the reception staff.

We stayed at this hotel for one night to attend a Killing Game event. The hotel was very welcoming, food was excellent and bar very appealing with its open fire.  …

I would not recommend this venue as a full spa day… the changing rooms reminded me of a leisure centre and smelt fusty and the toilets and showers were old and smelly. It’s just a single small pool with one steam room and one sauna and of the beds you can lounge on 3 had rips or holes in them. The only redeeming factors were that the staff were great, the afternoon tea was nice and the treatments were brilliant.

Just had a weekend away with the other half for her birthday. She loved it, we always do love Macdonald hotels, yes they arent modern or fancy but we just like the vibe of an old building. The staff were great, the spa treatments were too. we loved the food and it was very reasonable price wise. We had a room in the old section and it was almost amusing as the floor sunk and fell away depending where in the room you were (dont drink too much :-) ) but it all adds to the charm. If you want fancy go elsewhere, if you want character stay here.

A traditionally styled hotel, with nice touches - it’s comfortably appointed. My bathroom ceiling and light fitting needed a clean, but other than that, the room was spotless. A very large, comfortable bed. ||A pleasant breakfast, with friendly and efficient staff in the restaurant.

We had an overnight stay and a day in the business centre for a team meeting. Service was great, rooms clean and well appointed. The service we received from Michael during our team meeting was great.  …

We booked a day spa day here. The pool was a good size and temperature, but it was more like a leisure centre than a spa. Apart from the pool, the spa facilities consist of the steam bath and sauna. I expected other facilities such as a hot tub and perhaps an adult-only area. It got quite busy and loud in the afternoon with children, even in the sauna, and it was quite difficult to relax. There were only 6 loungers which wasn’t nearly enough to accommodate everyone. Not sure that it is worth the price. The massage was fantastic. The afternoon tea was okay. The hotel itself is beautiful, but the spa is a separate building. It is in a great location just by the centre of Stratford.

Been a fan of Macdonald hotels over many years but this was quite a let down and not their usual standard.|Met by receptionist chewing gum with a less than welcoming demeanour. Room very cold and unable to turn heating up. …
