I had never heard of this place before as just moved to East lothian and only half an hour drive away,We popped in for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious. Very generous portion sizes and lovely warm service and very attentive. We will definitely be back and telling our family/friends to join us next time!

A lovely hotel run by a very friendly family & staff. 20min out of Edinburgh but well worth the drive in & out. We had a delicious dinner & lovely breakfast. Family ammenities are great for travelling with older or younger children! Thank you…..happy to recommend ☺️

Room 5 - Stayed over 10th-11th of September 24. On arrival both heavy doors to the front are closed and no assistance… two women sat behind reception didn’t even stand up to welcome us or greet us with a smiley hello! …

We had a fantastic meal here. Highly recommended.Family of 7 and we all had various meals. Mine in the picture was roast beef and it was hot, delicious and plentiful.The service was absolutely brilliant and I would always come back here if in the area again.

Had a party here, few misunderstanding with staff over a buffet, was lead to believe you could bring your own even told they would supply cloth for table and cutlery. 4 days before the woman on the phone was extremely aggressive and shouting "my staff wouldn't say that, they been here 30 years, we've never done that" well i think you need to re-train your staff !So reluctantly paid over the odds for there below par buffet that didn't even have options for children, it was so expensive for what we got!! The food was thrown on table, no presentation or pride, plates where dirty and needed to be changed twice.The main bar staff (man) was just no life in him, miserable, and didn't want to be their, the girls where lovely.Positive.Some of the staff where really helpful and went above their duty, accommodating and great staff (again female staff)Overall, I personally wouldn't recommend, however they do have a beautiful hotel/reception, majority of staff are helpful.I would recommend the management change the culture of there customer service and especially the buffet so it more accommodating to all including children and Improve the quality of food presentation.

We got married at the Stair Arms Hotel on Fri 21st June. From the outset the staff were brilliant in accepting every detail we wished to add to our day and did it without question. The day itself was everything we wanted it to be and more. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us and would highly recommend the hotel to everyone.

Had a family lunch. Great tasting burgers and chips and a good kids meal selection. Brilliant selection of desserts and traybake ready to take away. Friendly service and a great location.

This hotel was not our pick. While the website and other reviews looked good, this was not our experience. Horribly uncomfortable bed, flat pillows, sticky floors, and a private bathroom down the hallway past several other rooms was quite inconvenient. There didn't appear to be any staff around at night or in the early morning. Definitely our worst night of our trip.
