Just don’t go! Only after booking did I discover that there is no staff on site. The doors are flimsy as are the locks. I didn’t feel safe. I’d booked an accessible room and I couldn’t get my wheelchair in. …

I'm extremely grateful to the staff at the Columba Hotel for helping out when, several hours after I'd checked out, I realised I'd left something important in my room. The item had no monetary value but was of great sentimental value to me. Other people could have been dismissive in this scenario, but Jules and Andy were kind, responsive, and proactive, and ensured it was tracked down quickly and returned to me the next morning. Honestly, I can't thank them enough. I also really enjoyed my stay at the Columba Hotel. I felt at home in my room, and it was very comfortable, private, and quiet, and I slept well. The check-in and check-out process was easy and the 'grab and go' breakfast was an unexpected bonus. Communication was great throughout, so I knew exactly what to expect on arrival and throughout my stay. I'll definitely be back and will be sure not to leave anything behind in my room next time!

We saw some of the negative reviews beforehand and are not sure if there is a stark difference between the rooms, or if some renovations have been done recently - but we really enjoyed our upstairs room with the four-poster bed. Beautifully decorated, great vintage atmosphere, a lot of space, clean bathroom and a hot shower. The only fault might be the old mattress which is a bit springy, but we slept well nonetheless and look forward to coming back. The location is great and the free grab and go breakfast is a nice bonus.

Really enjoyed staying at Columba house, clean, room and bathroom (with bath) were large, grab and go breakfast which you could eat in the dining area was a nice inclusion, comfy bed, quiet even though near train line, quick walks to cafe and restaurants.

Amazing place! I would recommend to anyone who wants a nice room in a quite location for a reasonable price. I booked a family room, with a double and a single bed and a private bathroom - perfect for 3 people, me, my brother and my mum. Great communication with the staff and a self check-in/out, which made it all as simple as it gets. Columba House is also close to Ben Macdui and Lochan Uaine, which are fantastic places to visit when you're in the area. I had a great time and so did my family. Thank you:)

... its pretty bad. apparently an old hotel that was bought and never refurbished. paint falling off the walls. whole house would need vacuuming. dead rabbit in the garden. dust and dirt here and there. no staff to be found anywhere. since i was not able to perform automatic checkin i never got the code for the key locker... so i had to call some person on the moon twice to retrieve my key. the whole place is... its ok if you only want to sleep one night... but other than that its bad. real badbreakfast is a joke

As happened to an earlier reviewer too, our room was downgraded without notification or a forthcoming compensation.Any hotel that doesn’t give you what you pay for and needs to be dragged to recognise it is “one star” and to be avoided.

Very comfortable room in a secluded location. No staff on site, but entry and exit were easy PIN code access to key. Basic breakfast and coffee facilities provided all I needed. Easy access to the town. This was great value, and a very pleasant stay. I came to visit y daughter, who loves in the town but has no spare bed. Comfortable
