This hotel lives up to it's reputation as the best in Scotland. One of our party was recognized when we arrived even though he hadn't been here in six months. The concierge is imminently helpful in everything. We haven't yet found a question he couldn't answer. The accommodation is second to none.High Tea at the Palm Court is an excellent experience all of its own. The Brasserie is probably the best included breakfast I've had at any hotel, anywhere and Number One is a destination.Every member of the staff is polite and welcoming. It is a lovely experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Edinburgh.

Absolutely brilliant afternoon tea at the palm court. Gluten free scones were the best we’d ever had and we really felt like we weren’t missing out compared to the normal afternoon tea. …

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Balmoral hotel, fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting Edinburgh. I could never have imagined that this dream would not only come true but would also be transformed into such a wonderful and unforgettable experience, thanks to The Balmoral. Thanks to the breakfast team for providing a rich, healthy, and delicious breakfast each morning. It was an excellent way to start the day.The SPA was another highlight of my stay. The team is both professional and welcoming. The atmosphere was calming and truly added to my overall relaxation.I thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite afternoon tea. The team was incredibly thoughtful, and their service was impeccable. I was also thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy a whiskey tasting. It is a must!In the restaurant and Bar I encountered love and professionalism. The team transformed a simple dinner/drink into a remarkable experience.I would also like to extend my thanks to the other departments, whose seamless service ensured that every aspect of my stay was perfect. From housekeeping to the front desk, everyone contributed to making my time at The Balmoral unforgettable.

Wonderful hotel, but frankly, it was the staff who earned and deserve a 5-star review. Everyone we met, every person on staff, were so helpful and kind. Always a smile, always positive. The room was fine. As a person who travels for a living and hold the highest levels and Lifetime levels with the major brands, the hotel room could benefit from another chair or two and much better room lighting. The room is dimly lit and we had one bathroom light that didn't work. Very good sized bathroom. Really hot water and very strong HVAC. The restaurants are stellar. The breakfast choices are many and varied, and the food tastes good. The Number One restaurant was amazing. Had the 7-course meal and it was outstanding.

The Balmoral is the definition of a 5 star hotel. I stayed in the Balmoral Suite and was very comfortable. The staff were beyond accommodating, very friendly, very helpful, and very knowledgeable of what places we should see and where we should eat during our stay. The highest compliment I can leave regarding this property is that I very much look forward to my return. The Balmoral has a distinct charm to it. In a world of glass boxes and cold modern finishes, it’s refreshing to find a 100+ year old property steeped in both luxury and history. Soaring ceilings and couches you just sink into. Something about staying there felt like home - part of the distinct charm I was referring to. The views of the Arthur’s Seat out the living room window were appreciated. Though the views from Arthur’s Seat itself were even better! If you want to experience Edinburgh, the Balmoral needs to be where you sleep at night. You’ll thank yourself for doing so.

The hotel had old world luxury. From the bellmen in kilts to the whiskey bar bartenders knowledgeable of his trade in kilts as well to the Bar Prince breakfasts and cocktails to the French restaurant with the duck confit, filet au poivre …

Absolutely beautiful Hotel. Lots of tweed and Scottish flair in the decor. The service was great. Hotel staff stopped by 3 times a day, morning time to help open the blinds and check on mini bar, afternoon to clean the rooms, and evening for turndown service.

Loved our recent stay at this hotel - very friendly, happy and attentive staff - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice and The Number One Restaurant was truly amazing - will definitely visit again. Oh and perfect Margaritas in the Prince Bar.

This hotel is soo dirty. The carpet in the room is filthy and to make matters worse they ddnt even have room slippers, the walls inside the room and in hallways were dirty and I mean dirty. Paid for breakfast but after seeing their options I ate out everyday. Honestly this place wasn’t worth £950, I travel a lot so I know what a dirty hotel looks like. But the staff were great and helpful hence the four stars for service!
