One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at! All of the staff were super friendly, the rooms & bathrooms were clean, and the lounge area is a super cozy place to hang out or chef up a meal! There’s something cool happening every day of the week (quiz night, pub crawls, etc.) and it’s right in the center of the Old TownDefinitely would recommend anyone travelling to Edinburgh to make this your home base 👌

the best thing is the location, just off the royal mile so that is near but not noisy. there are 2 lounging areas and a big communal kitchen for use. the decor is very cute and the staff are really nice too!however, the rooms and the bathroom are quite old and needs a lot of improvement. at least they were clean when during my stay. the bathing cubicle is so small that as a petite Asian girl, I feel claustrophobic. I can't even stretch out 1 arm, that's how bad. there is also some black mould on the shower curtain 😵‍💫. the upper bunk bed is quite dangerous as the blocker is very low and very easy for someone to fall down from the bed.

The High Street Hostel is in an excellent location just steps from the Royal Mile. However I would not recommend this hostel as it's quite dumpy. The furniture is old and the bed linens are worn out. The breakfast is not free as it is in so many other hostels. Only one bathroom and one shower room per floor! And the bathroom and shower room are for men and women, seems they were too cheap to build separate facilities for men and women. The dorms have no privacy curtains and only a bare light bulb lights the room. If you are short you don't want to be on the top bunk because the ladder to get up or down has rungs that are 2 feet apart. Each room has lockers but the lockers are small and only fit in a airline carry on bag. Average sized backpack will not fit in the lockers. It appears that no improvements have been made to this hostel in decades! Oh and if you want to play cards, you can buy a deck of cards at the hostel for 4 pounds.

It’s a nice hostel. We stayed one night in a girls 4 bed room. You can leave luggage in the lobby before checking in but it’s just on a shelf with everyone else’s. Room was fine, quite warm. You can hear everything both in the hostel and outside. You can have a locker in your room but it’s too small to fit a bag so purely for valuables. Bathrooms are kept clean and staff are lovely.

The location of hostal is just the best. This is exactly nearby high street. And has nearby bus facility, Castle, National Museum of Scotland, cashmere shopping, restaurant, Highlands, Hop on Hop off Tour, Waverley rail station all are easily accessible and in a walking distance. I stayed in a 8 bed dormitory.Fellow inmates were polite and considerate, silence was maintained all time.Dormitory was good with a bunk bed, duvet, comfortable heating, charging points beside each bed, individual locker near bed.Shower, Toilets, wash basins well maintained. They have a large lounge to relax with large TV, pool table, guitar, and kitchen with stove, utensils, cutlery, where we can cook.Volunteers conduct a program every night at 8:30, and this was fun.I participated in a Quiz on Monday night and was amazing. They provide unlimited veg only breakfast for £3.

We stayed for 1 night to attend Fringe Edinburgh. It was a good stay.Hostel is in the heart of city, just one block away from Royal Mile street where all artists perform.Big spacious hall and kitchen. All young n charismatic staff.Rooms and bathrooms are small. However, kept clean n tidy. Number of bathrooms n toilets are less on each floor needing to wait in rush hours.

The hostel is really good. Customer service was excellent.. bathrooms and showers was clean and lounge, kitchen areas tidy and nice. The corridors smelling really disgusting after evening and i dont know why.Every bed have its own locker and that good.3£ For breakfast is a reasonable price and breakfast is good. You can cook your food at evening and you have to clean after yourself that i really like. The decoration was awesome!!

The High Street Hostel is central. The common room is ok. Bathrooms have hot wather, rooms are clean. The rooms have small beds and are too small for people and luggages. I was in a room for 8 people. There are lockers, you get the key, and they are enough big for smaller bags, not backpacks. The perk is that the doors slams constantly, even on the hall, so when one inconsiderate person weak up first, all the rooms hear it and weak up. I give them a high vote because I don't want to ruin their work.

It’s really amazing place to stay for a couple of nights! It’s located in the heart of town in medieval street! There is a lot of space inside to rest, watch movies etc. You can also prepare your own food because of a big kitchen is provided! I really enjoyed to be here!

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm. Room was very small and the bunk bed was not for 6ft tall person. Lobby smelled of sanitizer. They give physical keys which are difficult to keep. They should give cards which are easy to carry.Lockers are small and bags won’t fit in.Location is very good and central.Staff is good. There was bot much of social vibe in hostel probably due to fringe festival.
